Oversized Shirt Pattern Review | Sewing Shirts For Spring

We love having a new shirt to wear for the spring and we think making a shirt is one of the most fulfilling sewing projects. In this video we review two of the shirt patterns we have sewn recently.

I am sewing the Aila shirt from Fibre Mood magazine right now and I was so proud when I made the collar! Jumped for joy, a hurdle I had been afraid to jump for years.

Even though I’ve made lots of shirts in the past, I bought your shirt making course and just love it! Like you said, it’s difficult to retain all the information and knowledge all the time, especially if we’ve taken a long break in sewing as I did. Thank you for another fun video. I’m looking forward to the next one!

Hi ladies...love the shirts and totally agree that shirt making takes things up a notch and it's so satisfying 👌💞. Recently made the Fairmount Shacket by Hey June and I've been wearing it such a lot lately... recommend this pattern 👍. I made the collar a bit smaller than the pattern but that was the only alteration. Like you say...you learn such a lot making them. Great to see you ladies 😁💝😘

That collar trick is good to know. I love over sized shirts. My problem with purchased ones is that they are too narrow in the hip. I have a small stack of shirts that need to have their slits raised because of this. I guess I just need to put my head down and get on with it. It's not hard -- just pesky.

I've been meaning to make a shirt for my husband (he saw my Nina Lee blazer and I finally got the nod of approval to make him something haha) - maybe I'll make the Viki sews shirt for myself as a warm up first, so that fit is less of an issue to start with. thank you so much for the video, your shirts look fabulous (both of them). also still have my fingers crossed that you will make and review the Viki Sews cropped blazer and wide leg pants 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻xx

I love shirts also. I have a question about semi-fitted shirts that come without bust darts. When I make it to fit my circumference, I end up with a handful of fabric between my bust point and side seams. Does that mean I need a bust dart? How would you two brililant people deal with that?

I appreciate your vlog may have been produced before the terrible events in the Ukraine, but should we really be supporting Russian businesses ( ie Vikki Sews) at this time, today of all days?
