I had the 1098 and loved it, im probably gonna go check out 1199s on Tues. Ducati makes such a sexy bike.

Looking forward to knowing how much miles you put in the bike for the years of ownership. I purchased the 1199R 2 years ago so far I’ve done 1000 miles and the original miles from the first owner was 3100 miles. Godspeed and safe riding👍

Damn man. I can't believe those forks are leaking. That's one of my biggest fears. I also have the ohlins semi active electronic suspension. It's not the price of fixing it but hoping whoever does it actually can do it correctly on such a sophisticated.

Forks should really be serviced every two riding seasons MINIMUM. and ideally after a couple track sessions

what? No need unless the seals are gone.. oil in forks doesn't really wear out . Unless you're a race team, dont bother

Golf Nerd , are you trying to drum up business for your Dealership? I have a bike collection and get 15 years + out of fork seals. In fact my 2000 Kawasaki ZRX1100 still has its originals. The 1973 Yamaha 175 Enduro I bought in 2002 is still fine, also. Replaced the ones on my 1985 Yamaha RZ500 in 2004 and are still good.

that's a disgrace that the forks are already leaking I have a Ducati 848 that's 11 years old and 18,500 miles with no problems like this

How you solve leak problem with fork?

I removed the forks and had the fork seals replaced. I vlogged it, I just added the video link in the description if you wanted to check it out . If you have anymore questions, just let me know.

Before pulling the forks I recommend using a tool called “seal mate” to clean Seals out to see if that’s the cause. If it still leans then seals need replaced.

Yep I did. I thought it was something to do with the evaporation canister being incorrectly removed. However, I found fasteners on the bike that vibrated loose and it was dripping oil onto the exhaust. I wish I got a video of the smoke.. it was pretty embarrassing. I tightened up the fasteners and it stopped. I added the video to the description of this video if you're curious on which bolts loosened.
