A 7 mana commander without green is kinda cringe tbh, but the effect is cetainly flashy enough to at least somewhat justify it.

I tried building an Ovika Commander deck the moment it was released. I thought using Skirk Prospector and Phyrexian/Ashnods altar would be amazing for playing out your entire hand in one turn. Combining this with same X-cost spells makes for some brutal effects

I use both, and City on Fire (has convoke). They're all amazing. And if you go full mana rock tribal, Paradox Engine comes into play too.

@@dyne313 City on fire does look disgusting but so far every time I did go off, I'd have no problem dealing 40+ damage to all other players. Surge to Victory and Purphoros are the ultimate wincons. Looking at edhrec swapping parts of my deck out for a convoke package might make it even stronger but I'm already worried that it's gonna be too strong for my pod 😂

Definitely considered it, although it’s quite awkward with all the sweepers in the deck. Once you’ve got an Ovika in play and are actively making tokens you’re probably already winning anyway.

I made my deck full on artifact ramp combo. Ramp into Ovika with mana rocks, then use those rocks and other artifacts to pump out huge armies of goblins to win in one huge turn. Very few instants and sorceries (only 3 with X in the casting cost, Blue Sun's Twilight, Silver Scrutiny and Electrodominance, which is quite powerful allowing you to almost "double up" on goblins). That combined with as many board pump effects (like Immortal Sun, Icon of Ancestry, Heraldic Banner, Adaptive Automaton, and the extremely potent City on Fire), along with a few artifact synergy pieces make for an easy kill in one big turn. It's very fun.

Cards that should be in every version of this deck. Strixhaven stadium (for an alternate win condition). Electrodominance (do almost double up on goblins by being able to cast two spells).

Awesome video as usual. Do you have any ideas for an updated Mutate deck, either in Brawl/Historic/Explorer, or are your older ones still relevant since there hasn't been any new Mutate cards for a long time? I was wondering if some of the new core cards would make mutate potentially stronger? Figured you would be the best person to come up with something new and cool if it could be better. Thanks!

Mutate is extremely bad so it's hard to make it relevant at all. Recent cards don't have much synergy with it, sadly.

was shark typhoon among the playables/cuts for this deck? i have a zaxara build that does a lot of similar noncreature shenanigans and it uses both shark typhoon and metallurgic summonings for a bit of redundancy and utility when i cant get zaxara to stick to the board

It’s certainly an option. Although hardcast Shark Typhoon is rarely the correct play unfortunately.

Nice going full control just to bluff having a spell. A lot of plays are made due to people casting a spell just to see if the game held priority for the opponent or not before casting their big spell afterward.

I prefer cards like Immortal Sun, Banner and Castle. They still pump your goblins but they do lots of other stuff too.

I love how there are players who stick around to the very end of the match, even in the face of defeat. Then there are the players who, on smelling even the slightest whiff of defeat, become like... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7-leZaFnNmbiI0.html . That's why I have so much respect for LegenVD. He stays around in most matches, even when the opponent needlessly drags out the win, just so they can enjoy their victory.

I use all of those throughout recent decks. Cornucopia makes more sense in this build as a way to make lots of Goblins.
