alpha's good, if you're familiar with Owlcat's prior games expect the launch to be nearly unplayably buggy for a few months though, but they're ALWAYS amazing

@@battledawn1 I've encountered a couple of graphical bugs (nothing terrible, just some enemies who forget their movement animation), but the alpha runs smoothly. Not a single crash, not a single "Oh no, I have to reload because I'm stucked", not a single anything I usually see on many finished games 😁

Both kingmaker and especially WOTR are very complex games with multiple quests routes, complex rules and many classes and abilities. This game probably will have more basic features but it is still a crpg, so expect some bugs at launch.

@@ucef9945 game that ended up not only confirming my worst fears but also exceeding them in such absurd % that i still find more value in fallout 4 (when bethesda makes something better despite of it being a broken buggy unfinished mess with content removed before and after release .....) anyway people here know value of writing (that comes from someone who hates reading) story and choices and consequences mean nothing if they are written poorly i'm in second playthrough (started day after finishing first) of pathfinder kingmaker and i'm seeing (despite of buggs and unfinished/missing content) quality on highest level after seeing enough of early access for both baldurs gate 3 and rogue trader i must say that owlcat games exceeds larian and that is something hard to achieve but at the same time it gives so much hope for better future (or what's left of it) that i might start to smile more

It looks great and the Alpha is excellent, but I am worried that Koronus becomes an exclusive playground of the main factions of the galaxy when it should not be so. If they are going to use this setting, the Expanse should be full of creatures, artifacts and places taken from the original RPG: Slaught infiltrators, Stryxis merchants, rak'gol raiders, no-imperial humans and the sinister ruins of extinct Halo civilizations. This does not mean that there is no space for known species, but in the form of marginal elements such as Freebooterz, Eldar Corsairs and Caos Pirates. A fundamental element that separates the stories of Rogue Traders from others in 40K is exploration, discovery and mysteries. That is why Owlcat should not focus exclusively on familiar faces, but also to leave place for local Koronus elements. The galaxy is a very big place!

@@OdaManjiro I would like to believe it, but every day I have less hope. The only people at GW who care to write coherent lore these days are the Specialist Games division (Forge World) and some writers at Black Library. Only they deign to occasionally include lesser-known elements of the universe that lack models or codexes. For example, the writers of the modern edition of Necromunda have used elements that first appeared in Inquisitor, Dark Heresy, and Rogue Trader... but the rest of the company's branches seem to have completely forgotten about those publications. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a deliberate policy of GW not to allow anything in their licensed products that doesn't have a tabletop model.

@Néstor Vetumbra Owlcat are very good at making comprehensive and reasonably priced DLC and supporting their games with free updates (bug fixes, rebalances and new content) so I'm sure that they will be adding other things. We already saw that necrons will play some part even if not a 'main race'. My guess is that they'll add some minor campaigns after the main release expanding on, or playing as other races.

Yeah, they did a fairly good job at describing the relationship of the Craftworld Eldar to humans being "strained." Same is the case with the Tau. In both cases they're not out to harm the Imperium of Man nor actively want to kill humans, thus not a "threat" threat, but at the same time they do not care about humans and see the Imperium of Man as an obstacle to their goals, which makes them something humanity needs to be cautious around, they are not in it to help you, they're in it to help themselves at your expense, but at the very least in a pinch they know who the real enemies are.

4:20 has me very hopeful about the potential for letting the player fall to Chaos. They did hint in prior dev diaries and other material that this might be a possibility, but what I was worried might be the case is that the player simply falls to Chaos Undivided, or joins the Word Bearers. Though those are nice options, I would want to be able to pick a single god if I wanted to, and so seeing these daemons of all four gods in this video gives me hope that they might have that in mind. I think the dream for any Chaos-oriented player is to be able to pick any one or all four, and have their character get the respective boons and mutations of their particular choice, hopefully even with the chance to become a Daemon Prince. I have my fingers crossed that they will implement something to this effect, but knowing how limited a lot of 40k games can sometimes be, I'm not entirely expecting this, only hopeful. Even if I can't pick any one god, just being able to fall to Chaos at all would be enough for me to want the game.

Sounds unlikely tbh because if you think about it, each god would require quite different quests that wouldn’t make sense to mix, which massively adds to the amount of work. Otherwise it would be only a cosmetic change which would be unsatisfying. I think undivided but with a lot of content for it makes more sense - although I totally agree that the ideal case would have been to have content for each

From what I can tell this game is most likely gonna have multiple choices like WOTR. Except instead of like 9 or 10 choices I think it’s gonna be either daemon ending empire ending or mixed endings which will be dependent on what exactly you do in the game rather than which side you really pick.

This is just about the main factions that are presumably central to the plot. We've already seen images of necrons, and we see other enemy types in this very video. Although T'au don't have any territory near the Calixis Sector so their presence might be a bit limited.

If this is a success, I'd really like to see a CRPG from the perspective of Aeldari rangers. I think that would allow you a certain amount of mobility and moral/cultural leeway that mainline Aeldari don't often get. You'd still probably have to set it in a semi-wild area of the galaxy to avoid the "EVERYONE HATES/KILLS EVERYONE" aspect of regular 40K, but I think it would be nice to have a different species as the protagonists. Plus, I'd love to give the Drukhari a right proper bloody nose that most Asuryani in the lore seem reluctant to inflict.

Tau aren't in the Expanse, and don't have the power to project anywhere near there. Necrons are definitely a possibility. And there's one event in the Alpha that seems like something they left behind.

The Tau Empire and Tyranids (other than Genestealers) are at the other end of the galaxy, but Orks should be in. They rule a string of systems in the Koronus Expanse

@@OdaManjiro your info have saddened me i'm not strong in 40k lore but i tried to imagine a way for tau but in such scenario it's hard to imagine this faction in other way than few slaves (for purchase from slaver or from other rogue traders that had them as a trophy or weird business deal or takeover from one of already mentioned factions) or squad on automatically jumping ship (or bigger in space hulk) or simply failed prototype of some jump engine (since they have highest chance of making one) as for orks i hope for either mercenaries or new incarnation of the beast

New to this franchise, genuine question, who is the less evil? Or anything that resembles a portion of benevolence in this games factions. I know the cliche of doing the good guy play through but it is how I run most rpg/Crpg games

In warhammer 40k, theres no "good guys" only shade of tyranny and grimdark. The Imperium is still the best hope for humanity but again, its a tyrannical government that use lobotomised criminals for computers and low menial work cyborg workers. The only "good guy" I would argue, are the heroes in stories that are like candles in a storm, facing true, pure evil like chaos and the drukhari and wish to save others. A rogue trader can act like that and having played the alpha, theres options to act accordingly. Also has a warhammer 40k FOOKIN nerd, I welcome you to our delightfully grimdark world where the light comes from individuals and everything else is darkness XD.

You can have non evil characters in the setting it is just all the factions that are bad. Obviously the Imperium can foster them easier than say the Dark Elder and as you are playing a Rogue Trader you have a lot of leeway in how you act. The game provides you with options that allow you to choose a "Good" path but how that turns out for you will be interesting! Also there is worse factions than these (except maybe Chaos) if you see glowing green light run just run! :)

In 40k there are no real good guys. Some claim they are, but often are just their own brand of semi evil with a veneer of goodness

Possibly the Eldar. They won't hesitate to kill humans/etc. who encroach on their territory, but they aren't actively trying to exterminate, conquer, enslave, or devour anyone, so they're probably the least evil overall.

Well, the T'au are kinda hard to come by in this region of space, since their FTL tech is limited and their empire is located on the other side of the galaxy. Necrons are already heavily implied to become relevant by the animated trailer. The other two have not been mentioned yet though, so maybe DLC content?
