Remembering thirty years. A Red Lore Amazon is a joy to have on your life. His name was Nicky and I had to have him put to sleep due to cancer. There isn't one day that I do not miss him talking, playing catch, hugs, kisses and saying " I Love you." The love a bird has is very different from a dog or a cat. Almost like having a child. Some day I might have another bird, but for now I just want to hold on to my memories of 30 years with my favorite companion, my friend, Nicki ❤️

It's so rewarding when parrot and person are matched up. My rescue Grey still says, "Goodbye, Ava. We're sorry, Ava.", which is what I believe she heard when her people had to give her up, for whatever reason. To me, she says, "I love you!"

I my God, she said I love you…too. It was the too that makes that very special. I don’t know how people think that animals aren’t sentient. These parrots understand context otherwise she would not have said I love you… Too! Her robotic voice is the same voice that many cockatos have when they have been in previous shitty situations. Barney the west coast Cockatoo from Canada‘s west coast obviously does the same thing. Many other cockatoos do it it is like it’s almost a protection measurement that they recite this stuff in a completely different voice and often the behaviour that accompanies it is angry or stressed. I’m so glad that I found your channel! I’m so glad that you and she found each other… She looks healthy, way more feathers, great job!!🎄🦜🙋🏼‍♀️💜🇨🇦🕊❄️💝🐕🐾✌🏼🇨🇦💜 I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season! Greetings from Canada❤🇨🇦

Cockatoos are prescious...I have a 24 years old Umbrella Cockatoo...I'm actually the second owner...first owner had to leave the state during the Parrot flu virus was going around...they couldn't take him. He was returned to the store they got him from...we bought him when he was a year old...he's been with us for 23 years...he is a love bug...our life is planned around him!!! He owns us more than we own him!!! 🥰💜🕊

Oh! But pigeons! Would you have thunk? Me neither. Can sleep on your chest for an hour, cuddled up under a blanket while you sit in a chair in the evening. Then "wakes up" and does a lot of feather preening first. Next it is time for a poop and for a snack. (I have one who is often so much like a particular quaker parrot I used to have, it's amazing. I had two of those, before, feral rescues that couldn't be released, so I adopted them.)

I am so glad you are now part of Oscar's life story... he is so happy and looking absolutely fantastic... you are a wonderful friend. I don't think people realise how old Cockatoos live for... 40 to 50 years! We have lots of wild Cockatoos who visit our backyard to eat the onion grass. There is one who comes often and can say "hello"... not sure if they were once owned but they are wild now and often comes to say our "hellos" to each other. Just looked up the collective noun for Cockatoos and it is a chattering, clattering, cluttering or crackle... seems appropriate... it is amazing to watch a chattering crackle of easy 50 Cockatoos fly around the local area... I feel privileged that Australia has such beautiful wild birds.

It's wonderful to see the love between the two of you ❤! Her feathers are growing back; she talks a lot, but not incessantly. I see that she had really bad anxiety, but when she wants to be held, she melts into your shoulder. Her anxiety just fades away in your arms!! You are very kind and loving to her, and I can see that she trusts you , which is the most difficult thing to win with a 20+ year old cockatoo who's been passed from owner to owner to owner...etc! I believe with all my heart that animals can tell a genuinely good human from one that has no capacity to love. Thank you Giuliano for sharing how you and Oacar became a family, and then went on to introduce Oscar. After watching your video it is easy to understand why you two love each other so much. You met just at the time when you needed each other the most and had what each other needed to become happier, healthier selves. Giuliano, when I first heard you mention about her past lives thought to myself, "Oh now that one I haven't heard" meaning proof that each of us lived many other lives before we.started living our current life. I laughed when I realized my mistake. In referring to Oscar's past lives you meant the different households she had lived in, or owners she had had. Made sense then. She is an adorable bird, so beautiful now that you have nurtured her back to health with a broader range of nutritious fruits and veggies and lots of love and attention. How great she could even come to work with you. It is obvious she has flourished under your care, her whole body is now covered with beautiful feathers and she has lots of energy to respond and interact with you and others in her life. I am delighted for you both and so happy for all of us listening. This video inspired me and proved to me that birds can make great companions! Happy holidays and thank you for giving this gift of love during this holiday season.

When I was a kid, many of my neighbors had me feed their animals whenever they were away. One family had a cockatoo. I tried to teach him to say inappropriate words and phrases. I don't think he ever learned them though. Good thing or they might have been greeted with SHOCKING remarks for a lifetime! I've matured (a little) since then.

YOUR STORY REALLY HIT ME. Not many owners really listen to their pets. They have so much to say. You 2 are lucky to have each other. Thank you for being so good to your per. The holidays always bring me down bc I see all of the people getting pets for the holidays. I worked for many years as a volunteer at animal shelters. The 1st quarter of the year, would always be our busiest. Last year 60% of domestic pets that were bought during the holidays were returned. Most, stating that it was a hassle that they were not ready for. Or the vet bills and insurance was too high. Many, would blame it on the pet. I would cry, thinking about all of these pets that thought that they had their “forever home”, were abandoned. PLEASE don’t ever entertain getting a pet if you cannot afford one, or do not have the time to spend with them, or the patience to train them. They can add so much love to a family, but that is only if you love them in return. Make the time, if are lucky enough to get a puppy this Christmas. It’s challenging. They’re like loud, funny toddlers. If you put time in with them, it will remain a relationship that you will never, ever forget. I’m teary, now. I love pets and wish I had more room to foster but I don’t. But, my hope is that some of you will read this and have a discussion before bringing home that gorgeous puppy, or Kitten, etc…Happy Holidays to everyone out there. I pray that 2023 will be better then 2022-2021 😊Happiness❤Love and a very Merry Christmas 🎅🎄to all of you.

So glad Oscar FINALLY found a forever home with a kind and patient person that cares about Oscar's health. Giuliano, thank you for giving Oscar a safe, secure, and stable home. When I had surgery, my bird was entrusted to the care of a dear friend. Unfortunately my conure stopped eating. Luckily my friend is an experienced bird person and noticed immediately. It wasn't until Junior heard my voice and saw my face via video chat that he resumed eating. People do not realize that birds are very sensitive and can easily die when they lose their home. So happy Oscar's story has a happy outcome!!!!

Our birds are so incredible, from the biggest to the smallest. Having one in your home is like having a child ❤️ A child that lives for over 80yrs 😍 so your children should be ready to take them on xxx

Congratulations for managing to bring her feathers back; many end up so stressed they never recover. A parrot is a lifetime commitment ... your lifetime if you can live long enough. At age 20 she matches with you fairly well. I hope you can hang in there until the end for her.

@@CuddleBuddiesChannel Birds are always shedding feathers naturally so growing back is also natural. Parrots who are extremely stressed develop this psychological reaction of pulling out their feathers trying to alleviate their frustration and anxiety caused by the inability to remedy their situation which is mental torture. A poor diet makes it worse.
