Had one of these, sold it to get a mk8 r which was pants in comparison. TCR is much sharper in every way and a much better drivers car

Interesting to hear your thoughts around this! For sure the TCR is a really special GTI and a car I love to drive. The owner also only gives it high praise 👍

@@mikedavies4561 Sold the R after four months. I had two near misses when fumbling about in the dark trying to find the heater controls which aren't back lit (I know you can deep dive in the slow notchy touch screen, but don't get me started on that!) I'm in one of the new Polo GTI's as a stop gap and believe me or not, its far more fun than the R to drive and is much nippier than I thought it would be, maybe on a par with a golf GTI but much lighter on it's toes. Even making £4.6k profit on the R didn't quite take away the sour taste it left me with.

The TCR is the best GTI ever made 💪 And a very nice sound with the standard exhaust 😍

Yes it really is fantastic! Both with the Akrapovic and the standard exhaust it makes a great noise once warmed up 😁

Its a mechanical diff You cannot bet the DCC with the 18inch wheels

You could spec DCC with 18s, it was an optional extra.

@@jgrvhvm I thought once you respect the Refnetz wheels you got the DCC and higher top speed as standard it was at 2500 thousand euro option another extra

@@agood1280 yes, DCC was included when choosing any 19” wheel. This was considered the ‘performance pack’ which had 19s, DCC, the top speed limiter removed and a slightly lower ride height. Although, if you didn’t want this you could spec DCC with the 18s as a stand alone option which in my opinion was the best choice as the 18” Belvedere wheels are lightweight forged aluminium manufactured by Fuchsfelge and only weigh around 7.5kg per wheel!

Thank you for the positive feedback! Yes, I struggle to see them on the road at all these days and feel very fortunate to have spent a fair amount of time in two different TCRs. Both are great cars and great Golf GTI's for sure 👍

Great assesment. Mines done 3000 mls Faultless whilst at the dealer for a service the sales manager said if I was to change it he would give me a deal on an r i couldnt refuse i refused i love my tcr

Thank you for the positive feedback and sharing your thoughts as a TCR owner. Yes, I really feel it is a car you could keep for the very long term as I cannot see VW creating these type of hot hatches in the future with everything going electric. Enjoy it for sure as it is a fantastic car 🎉

I guess that the used values of the TCR will always be similar to the Mark 8 Club Sport. It is a rather special run-out for the 7.5 ……

Must admit even tho I have launch control I hardly ever use it, I forget I even have it, always do stage 1 maps to make a car more responsive and mid range torque 👍

Im looking for this car its just the best combo.. iam a mercedes guy but this has it all it has the engine of the R it looks more special as an r or a45 (2013-2018) and the fuel economy is good when you want it to.. what a lot of people dont look at they always saying " you dont buy such a car for the fuel economy" but for a car thats gonna be used every day its great that you just can drive normal with normal fual economy and when you want it to you can floor it and then it doesnt matter. I have a b220d 4matic and it does 40mpg so.. I also think they gonna hold their value well.. (sorry for my englisch)

They did early on but it was discontinued after around a month so most TCR's are 5 door.

I am lucky to have a pure grey one with Akro with the performance pack and the Dynaudio ,love it to bits and will not be selling it as I don’t know what would replace it for reasonable money. The Audi RS3 but they are silly money. I have owned mine for 2.5 years and still love the look and the way it drives and I could probably still get what I paid for it. The TCR’s where a bit of an over looked car when they were released and are quite a rare car with just over 800 in the UK .

Thank you for commenting and sharing the details on your TCR. I feel they are a car to be celebrated and I 100% agree with you in terms of holding onto it for the long term. It really does do everything and I have plans to meet up with this owner again to hopefully share further insights myself as I have always enjoyed driving them. They hold there money so well and are at a great price point when you consider how expensive today's hot hatches are. I am completely sold on the looks also 🤩

@@SamAustin thanks Sam and I forgot to say keep the reviews coming ,I like all the hot hatch reviews. I have kept my TCR standard apart from adding aluminium paddles which make the manual gear change feel even better .

Thank you I will do. I only review hot hatches or sportscars in general so I hope you continue to enjoy the channel. Great shout on the paddles as that does improve the quality feel when you change gear compared to the standard ones 👍
