Would you spend 13 years on a project car build modernizing a 1970 Firebird Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air III? Join Nadine as she meets with Throdle member Amrit and his labor of love - a Firebird and only 1 of 1500 Ram Air III stick shifts left worldwide. They talk about what it's like owning a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air III, value, costs and benefits. He's spent a lot of time customizing the car parts and has a unique custom hood scoop, custom fender flares, and even added twin turbos to his muscle car v8 engine which he now regrets. What's stock left on this American classic muscle car 1970? Just the original Pontiac Firebird block and crankshaft.
Find out some of the pains Amrit’s had during this lengthy rebuild project and how he grabs ECU data directly to his cell phone to monitor the performance of his car.
He also hoists the car up so we get to take a look at the transmission and suspension.
Want to get in touch with Amrit and ask about his restoration project? Contact him at @TransAMrit directly on the Throdle App!
Watch BONUS videos on the Throdle App! See more features of the car, check out the car under the hoist, hear about Amrit's car stunts and see a photo gallery of the car.

I've seen one up close. I drove one my brother owned (1970 Trans Am white with blue stripe like this one except all original) from Denver to Los Angeles back in 1978. Still love the car. It took 5 tanks of gas to get it there. Wish he'd never sold it because it was all original, very tight and would be worth a fortune now. OEM is the only way to go- with the exception maybe of putting Ram Air IV or V in this car and the new fuel injection rather than leaving it to get 6 mpg with a quadrajet on top.

Wow what a gas guzzler!!! So did he get a decent price for it when he sold it? Damn what a shame he didn’t keep it!

@@Throdle They sold it because they had 5 cars. A 66 GTO 3spd manual, the 70 TA, a cherry red 66 Pontiac Catalina convertible with a white top, a 72 Firebird that he dropped in a 400HO, and his pride and joy, a yellow with green pearl 68 Firebird with a 400HO Ram Air IV (370HP-he dropped in and 4spd manual- a neighbor across the street got drunk when he owned this car and did some damage to the body in front. My brother bought it from the Denver Police pound for $25 (1975). It sat on the side of my parents house for over a year while he rebuilt the car) - it averaged he told me about 4mpg. All of these cars were pristine. Me, I was simply a poor teenager but loved driving. I learned how to speed shift in the GTO. I remember how fast the 70 TA was here in Denver as I got into a drag race with a friend of my brother's in a Cougar at a stop light. Scared the hell out of me doing it but we went full throttle for a about 1/8 of a mile before I chickened out. It was fast here at high altitude but dam when we hit LA anytime I took off from a light I could get the tires to scratch with no problem. Yeah, he told me that he wishes he still had the 68 and 70. He's an ASE mechanic by trade with a degree in mechanical engineering. He told me that there was a Chrysler dealer down the street a few blocks from the Porsche dealership he worked at that had a Boss 429 Super Cobra Jet Mustang that he almost purchased for $3,000. I didn't hear about this one until recently. He always seemed to have luck finding these cars whereas I was too poor to own one.

@@rickj1983 These are such incredible stories! Thanks for sharing. OK he missed out on the Boss for $3k that's insane... and the GTO would've been one hell of a fun ride. Totally nerve racking it would be to drag the 70 TA though! At least you lived to tell the tale! We'd love to have both of you on the Throdle App to share more about your car collection - and stories, so do check it out.

What a waste of a rare car. Millennials are just ruining classics. Big rims and ridiculous mods.
