@@rawnrg1988 Jason. My friend and roommate Chris had a silver mk4 1.8t Golf with custom 3 piece wheels, we were both from NM. My car was a Red '93 Corrado with a carbon fiber hood and stock Speedlines. I actually joined RawNRG (still have the license surround!) but because of my work schedule I couldn't make it out much.. That was close to 20 years ago, I remember cars better and faces better than names now.😆

Wow! I’m pushing 50 this week and this really brought back memories of when I was working at an audio installer fitting all the equipment you showed to all the models featured. Man, in the 90’s I also had the 12 disc changer, tape deck, two amps and EQ. It was the complete combo for a great daily driver. I was still making my own mix tapes though, didn’t pull the trigger on the mini discs. I was just happy to have a CD changer that wouldn’t skip when the bass was up!

In Washington D.C. here. Big respect to you on taking me and all of us down memory lane late 80's, 90's...H2O, WaterFest, HIN, the local shows, V street. Beautiful car(s). I had a 1985 GTI (made in Pennsylvania) jet black with the blue/red cloth interior, fully loaded, with sunroof and cruise control, great car. I should have never traded it in. But I did trade it in for a 1990 Corrado G60, Pear Blue with Black/grey/blue cloth interior, fully optioned, and installed glass sunroof, JETEX exhaust, chipped.... Excellent car and I still have it today. Love your talk about the period stereos, speakers etc. Sony and MB Quarts here in the Corrado. Also the wheels....O.Z Racing(Corrado), WORK, FIKSE. Your car is really fantastic and you are true to the VW game.

Beautiful Rocco. I'd have to agree, Type-A's and ATS cup's are both awesome wheels especially on the mk2 and mk3 chassis cars with a quality set of coilovers. Those Quasars look almost identical the OEM BMW style 19 BBS. Nice looking wheel, and most definitely rare. I remember many, many years back when my buddy first got his champagne '86.5 16v and I had my fully built mk2 gli 12v VR just cruisin together. Those were the days! The euro bumpers/ e-codes look so great on the Rocco II. The Reiger and Seidel kits were always pretty cool on them if done properly. Sorry to hear about your Cabby, it looked the part for sure, but IMO the Rocco is much cooler. My father, rest his soul was a sound engineer and he taught me about the mini-disks, so it's funny that you had them in there! I like your center console setup. Good alternative from the typical 3 pod straight VDO gauges. My buddies Rocco was close to stock engine wise... Jamex Power Rohr, 'swiss cheese' air box, TT enrichment chip, Audi 5000 throttle body, 50mm manifold, Autotech 4-2-1 header, and I believe a TT stainless with a Borla... still such a fun car. Totally agree about the camaraderie and the VW/ Audi community back in the day. I'm a "foggy" too I guess lol, I'll be 39 this year. It was such a different and unique feel from how it is now. Cheers on sharing this with us man, love how you've kept it period correct!!! 😎👍👍

Thank you so very much for the kind words and shout out to your Dad as well! With the Scirocco I wanted to be sure that I had certain touches that would not be replicated at a show, and it definitely paid off, hence one of the reasons why I chose not to go with the “regular “ euro light set up and did the encode h4s instead. One thing that I had yet to install was my AutoTech upper stress bar which apparently is now ultra rare. You also could see the schrick cams or mahle pistons and carillo rods🏁 I have a bunch more things planned for her, as they say, “the modifying is really never done” ☺️😀✅
@psavel274
@psavel274 3 жыл бұрын
@@rawnrg1988 Thank you as well for the love bro! The schricks are where it's at. I've run them on quite a few cars. Really liked them in one if my built e36 chassis cars. If you run them on the 16v, the external adjustable cam gear is also a great addition. I ran the Tectonics one and it's super convenient to be able to dial in the timing with just an allen wrench. I believe the last 2.0l 9A I built liked the timing around 8 degrees advanced. Going on memory so I may be mistaken as it's been over 20 years since I put that particular motor together. If you want to play with the relation of intake to exhaust cam timing, Kent Cams produced the internal adjustable gears. Not sure if they are still available but they are also a worthwhile option. The Mahle stuff is some of the best 'upgraded' OEM parts out there when it comes to the Euro stuff. Their rings are good to make solid, reliable power. Same can be said for Carillo. I had a set of JE slugs in that same built 9A 2.0l but frankly I don't remember which rods I ran. I am definitely willing to bet that the Autotech bar is probably very rare. Is it the non-hinged fixed style? I think those were the ones that had the single bolt flange on either side correct? They do make a difference as I've seen windshields crack from tracking these cars without the bar in place. There is a good amount of chassis flex that not everyone notices until they install a quality strut and or lower k-member brace. Really dig the car man, be safe out there during these crazy ass times! 👍💪😁
@rawnrg1988
@rawnrg1988 3 жыл бұрын
So I realized that I had some typos in my last response cause I was so excited about everything lol! What I meant to say was that I already HAVE all that in the motor already, 268 and 272 cams to be exact...that’s how I achieved that 200 hp on the dyno with 205 ft lb✅ And yup, the bar that I have has the adjustable nut in the middle and the solid rings for each side that say AutoTech on them. It was one of the last bars that they had!
@psavel274
@psavel274 3 жыл бұрын
@@rawnrg1988 Hell yeah man, that 268/ 272 duration is great for 'fast road' 16v cam setup. I have run the same set a very long time ago. I also really liked the Cat Cams which I also used a few different profiles in a couple other 16v cars. I have probably done a fair amount of these because I was/ am a tech by trade for over 25 years. These cars are such a blast to work on and to drive! Once you get bitten by the bug, it's tough to stop. Great talking to you man, take care of yourself and keep on dubbin!!!! 😎

Back in 91/92, a buddy of mine here in The A, had a emerald green VW MK1 Rabbit with a full white Cab interior and body kit, sitting on a full set of Momo Quasars. I swear, he had 1 of the hardest Mk1s running around The A. If I can find a set, I'll build a MK1 Rabbit or a Cab, with a Vr6 engine.

Watching this makes me miss my ‘87 Scirocco 16v until I remember how many things went wrong with it and how I didn’t have the money to fix it back then. Damn I miss that car. Now that I’m farther into this video I realize I commented way too early. Minidisc? Damn! This is awesome!
