PROPER maintenance is paramount. None of my BMW's have ever let me down. Nuf said.
@robertcoyle9071

You have to fix things before they break. The last owner probably didn't replace anything. You absolutely have to keep up in the cooling system or you're driving a ticking time bomb. I lost a idler pulley bearing and the overheat popped the coolant pipe under the intake. It was all brown and pastey inside. What sucks was I was literally going to order those parts when I got home. My car wasn't waiting. Fortunately I didn't nuke the head gasket and is still running at 209K.

the only beamers i’ve owned that r now gone were, what i like to call, user error 😅 im on my third i have a 2008 328xi now, AND now im sober ?! shits been a dream 😌 they’re only expensive to maintain IF you break them. OR if you wanna pay a car shop to fix them. power lock actuator, windshield fluid pump, n headlight bulbs needa be replaced on mine, car shop quoted me upwards of 3k for JUST the labor on those, w me buying the parts 😂 sooo lol no. $35 actuator, j replaced it works AMAZING no issues. $20 windshield fluid pump, $100 oem xenon headlight bulbs. i did all of that for under $200 🥰

There are two types of BMW owners: kids/men acting like kids who can't figure out how to do basic maintenance and drive around with blinged out beaten out shoddy falling apart BMWs with ugly aftermarket "upgrades" and then there are those people who just enjoy a good car and never have any problems because they take care of what they own. You skimp out on the quality of replacement parts, you don't do oil changes, you don't switch parts when they start breaking but wait until they fail completely and take other parts with them, then you got no right to blame the brand. Not disagreeing, your right I do agree that the average person doesn’t know how to take care of their care and doesn’t bother to and it definitely causes a lot of issues that shouldn’t happen in the first place… BUT the fact of the matter is old beamer’s are a good bit more likely to have issues in the first place compared to other brands like Toyota or Honda. Yes BMW’s require more maintenance than other brands to be reliable, but that’s the thing.. they require stricter maintenance… therefore they are more expensive to own still

Maintenance, know how, be your own experienced mechanic, on any car. Don't rely on anyone you can't trust. Be smart and learn your menu. Most self made mechanics are experts in their field.
