Definitely recommend a good steam cleaning I went more aggressive and did a full Bissell shampoo treatment the colors in the waste tank will shock you lmao

@@darthtyranus7683 so right now it’s a mismatch of a bunch of different brands. Since this video I went up 2 tires sizes to a 34” tire. I have SPC upper control arms a bilstein front and real shock/coilover and my old icon front spring.

@@OXFOOT Yeah most definitely so far I’ve ordered the storage organizers for the glove box and center console and replaced the license plate lights I don’t get why Toyota still sticks with the outdated yellow halogen bulbs for a 2021 model it should come standard how has the interior led lights been holding up any flickering? Looking to replace all the interior lights then move onto exterior turn signals and daytime running lights

The only thing you have to look out for is the new sensors. Mines older so it doesn’t have one but the 2021 you’ll have to make sure to get a bumper with no bull bar or a high one that is tall enough to not block it. It’s an easy thing to avoid. Congrats on the new purchase!

Overall, great tips. Just aim your side view mirrors out further to eliminate the blind spots. You don't need to see right along the body. Thanks for sharing your insights.

Yeah I get that, but at my vehicles height sometimes I don’t see things lower to the ground. Most of the time they face more in because I’m probably offroad on trails with tight branches as much as I’m on road. That plus having a dog that sticks his head out the window I like to see that he’s doing alright. I totally understand where you’re coming from though.

Yeah storage in my 4Runner has been my biggest problem. Storage up front, storage in the back. I’m going to eventually try to solve it.

brother the interior LEDS are a must. took my 07 limited up about 10 years in the interior. i must highly recommend a center console organizer (just like the glovebox one in the vid) as it stores everything away very nicely. I also highly recommend doing some sort of budget light bar for the grille, i did my whole button, wiring and light bar for under $60

I went the plasti dip route when I got my TRD Off-Road back in 2018. Hasn’t worn off since. Only a small scrape I accidentally made when I tested it out.

Yeah I have my rear bumper valance plastidipped and it’s been fine outside of scrapping it on rocks a few times in Moab. I just add another coat and move on.

Recommend Broadway rear view mirrors. Can see through every window of my vehicle by just moving my head side to side instead of having to turn my neck back every time. Been using it for years, the concave one is better IMO.

I’ll have to check that out. I’ve got a lot of stuff I want to try but not endless money. Hoping if I can build this channel more I can try stuff like that. It looks really cool, honestly I may have to give it a shot anyways. I’m trying to have the 360 view when merging, this plus the blind spot mirrors would put me right in that range. Great vid, good content. My SR5P has rubber mats, but rear rubber mat is the worst, no teeth underneath/slides around too easily. Have the JDMCar insert already for glove box and tray for console, just ordered side door inserts while watching vid, was on the fence about what brand for headlights, but will get LasFit - nice tip on fog lights changing color 👍. Got my silver roof rails powder coated while the wheels were getting done and front windows tinted. Pedal Commander just arrived too. Keep up good work!

Yeah mine came with rubber mats too but I really feel like they don’t cover enough. The rear one is almost useless. Everything slides around like crazy.

I’m actually about to try out some other bulbs that change three color settings. They are boslla, TRD Jon tried them and really liked them. Not sponsored so I don’t mind going to different brands. I need to eventually try the pedal camander. The 4Runner is an absolute dog going up Colorado mountains. So bad it was making me think of getting a GX just for that V8.

A slightly more expensive but huge upgrade for the side mirrors is the SUMA Performance Convex mirror. They have a tinted version and with signals built it. I absolutely love mine.

Damn I just looked into that and it looks like a really good idea. How hard are they to install? I’ve never taken a mirror out of its housing before so not sure the complexity.

@@OXFOOT It isn't too difficult to install new mirrors if you have like a glass suction cup thing, and if you pull straight back it'll just pop out. The difficult part is if your 4R has the side mirror signals if it does not have them from the factory then the signals in the mirror won't work. If it does then you need a plastic pry tool to pop off the back case and then you can see the wires to splice. Overall based on your videos this shouldn't take you more than 1 hour for both sides. It did cost about 180 USD including shipping, but it cost a bit more for the blue tint, defroster and turn signal. It does look like SUMA might be sold out currently.

Funny enough it’s an extreme LED light bar. It’s the budget version of a Baja design light that the bumper cutout was made for.

Hi, thanks for the very informative video! Quick question: for the low beam LED headlights that you linked, did you have any issues with fitting them in the standard housing? I've been given a link to Lasfit lights that are custom made for 4Runners, but they're quite a bit more expensive than the ones you listed here. Hoping I won't need to spend the extra money.

At the bottom of the amazon link there are some reviews from people with 5th Gen 4Runners. In my experience if low beams don’t fit it might just be the rubber gasket. My headlights fit fine but I have also upgraded now to boslla tri color lights which are like not cheap at all. The last fit ones should work just fine and if you don’t like them for what ever reason Amazon has a really good return policy.

I have a video I’m planning right now on offroad/overland necessities. First aid kit is the number one thing I recommend. Jacks are pretty damn important but I’m afraid of recommending a highlift and someone sue me or something.

Well maybe I’ll see if I can’t find one that doesn’t suck. I got a few buddies with hydronic jacks and maybe they might be able to come up with something good. I do know folks with the eagle jacks but those things are kind of meant for working on trucks at home. Also very expensive.

I only have one install video for headlights not fogs. The install I have is for a different headlight but it was a sponsored video and it’s a higher end light that has a bunch of modes and stuff. For general use the last fit is fine. But the same installation still applies.

It’s a C4 low profile bumper with a smittybilt 9500 winch. The winch is a really good cheaper option but the bumper is pretty good albeit on the pricey side.

You can put in oem side mirrors with the built in blind spot. They are rav4 ones.

It’s a c4 hatch ladder. I like it for the most part but I installed it too far to the left and had to trim it. The instructions literally said not to do that though… so stick to the instructions and you should be good.

It’s just the Colorado hunting and fishing plates. They’ll give you that option when you sign up for plates. May have to scroll a bit to get to it but it should be on their list.

To change the fog color you can just spin the fog nob individually or flash your brights

Yeah you can do a lot of things to make the lights change. Sometimes I just want to flash my brights and it’s annoying to go to amber but it’s not a big issue.

Do you have any recommendations as to where to take a 4Runner to get the lights switched out? I’m in Denver.

Swapping out the whole housing or just taking out the bulb? It’s a few minute job to take the bulbs out. You don’t even need tools. Just twist that little disk behind the light in the engine bay, twist the bulb a quarter turn and it’s out. Then you just unplug it. I think really any shop could swap it out if you don’t want to.

Quick question for you. We just got the 2022 4Runner SR5 Premium with TRD package. I want to upgrade the struts and shocks to something like Bilstein or Fox. Can you recommend a good offroad strut shock package? Thank You!

I have a mix set up now. I had full icon but I’ve tried some other stuff recently. So far I like the bilstein the best of the stuff I’ve used, but I might actually be switching to locked offroad soon if things go right. Also a whole Dobinsons lift is a really great choice as well. There’s really so many good options out there as long as you stay away from the aesthetics only lifts like rough country.

No matter what lift you go with I think the best upper control arms are the SPC UCAs.

How are the Lasfit switchbacks doing? (front turn signals) I see some people saying that it heats up the housing too much and they end up just putting the stock halogens back. Feedback is much appreciated.

Hmm that’s strange. Mine are completely fine. Weird that people were having issues with them getting to hot as LEDs have fans built in. I’m not sure of the science behind it but I thought that LEDs were cooler than Halogen bulbs.

@@chrispangelinan2487 yeah sorry I can’t remember what all has fans and what doesn’t in there. I haven’t noticed any overheating personally. I had it on emergency flashers for an hour or so and they didn’t speed up or slowdown. I plugged it straight in.

When you upgraded your high beam light bulbs, did you have problems with daytime running lights feature? When DTL is used, the high beam bulbs run at reduced voltage. Will these LED bulbs do the same? If not, what did you do for the DTL lights? Also, how did you manage to install the low beam LED bulbs? Wouldn't the LED heatsink interfere with the weather cover on the back of lights fixture???? Also, if the heatsink fits somehow with the cover closed, the amount of air inside the light fixture isn't enough to properly cool down the LED lights. Leaving the weather cover open will destroy the headlights in a short amount of time. Dust and moisture will get there very quickly. BTW, an advice for you. Replace your recovery strap with a 30 ft. Dynamic Recovery Rope. You won't believe how much difference it makes. A smaller SUV or even a compact car will be able to pull you out. You'll be able to pull out large trucks or even full size motorhomes. Learn to use it properly. Plenty of KZfaq videos on this.

I actually haven’t upgraded my brights. It’s been on the list but I’ve just been busy with my regular job/ KZfaq and haven’t gotten around to it. These ones should be fine in the brights but I can’t attest to whether or not the DRL will flicker because I haven’t tried it but that’s what I’ve heard some old LED nights did. Reviews should help clear that up, sadly I can’t really give you a good review on that.

Yeah I’ve actually switched out for a dynamic strap. I need it for winter because there’s tons more yanking involved in getting stuck in snow and I’ve been there too many times lately.

I tend to prefer plastidip. Every once in a while it scrapes off but I just add another coat.

@@OXFOOT yeah it’s not super durable but it’s so easy to touch up. I guess if you really just want to throw new ones on and leave them buying whole new emblems isn’t a bad choice. You could also take them in and have them line-Xed maybe if you’re getting a bumper done or something like that.

It says on the page universal fit except for 2020 Tacoma, and 2018-19 tundra. In the comments a guy with a 2019 and another with a 2021 gave them high reviews. My guess is if it fits those it should fit the 2020.

It’s a C4 low pro bumper with mid height tube. I don’t have the sensor so I went mid height. If you have the newer ones with the sensor you either need to go no bull bar or full height. I also have the 30” light bar cut out.

Do the LED bulbs you swapped into your DRL/ high beams flicker when in DRL mode?

The DRLs are the only light I haven’t replaced. I don’t use DRLs but I need to upgrade them because it’s also the high beam light. I’ve switched to boslla lights for my headlights now I will be upgrading the DRLs with their stuff soon.

Black makes Everything on there looks so much better the factory krone stuff after so long it starts looking bad at least with the black you can either just buy new unless you can’t buy new silver ones but I think they got covers that go right over the Toyota symbols

I can’t believe it took them so long to figure that out my wife got a brand new RAV4 and I looked online and you can buy the symbols to go right over the factory ones I’m going to refinance my house soon I wanna truck but man at new 4 runner and the thing about Toyota trucks and that forerunner they don’t lose their value I mean you never trade them back into the dealership they always get you and then another thing about a pick up you can keep that thing for 20 years if you decide to and if you keep it nice you can still get Something decent for the truck

Have you ever seen on KZfaq a guy I think it was a Toyota pick up truck he put 1,000,000 miles on it and Toyota gave him a brand new truck for it it wasn’t and also it’s just like a little smaller pick up but they gave him a brand new pick up truck because they want to do a re-engineer and find out why it really had no problems at all well that’s the thing about Toyota if you take care of it as you don’t have any problems with them friend of mine my brother has an auto shop dealership and a tow truck company other buddy he does he’s got the bodywork shop and he buys cars from the auctions and fixes them up and sells them he buys a lot of stuff that’s just wrecked a little bit but they totaled cars easier and he goes to Delaware and they will that State will total them but when he brings them back in Maryland and get a title for them and Marilyn they don’t consider them total

Like two years ago or three years ago my body well back in 2017 my buddy bought a 2016 F250 diesel and when he got his you didn’t really see them and it everywhere about a year later year and a half later they’re everywhere but when he got here she didn’t really see them at all and my buddy bought three of those from the auction one was a king ranch but the other two were just you know just have to Freddy’s but you know fully loaded and they were just wrecked in the front nothing damaged it with the motor not even the front end really light no radiator nothing just needed a bumper headlights hood bumper plastics what and I had a dent in the back a little one on the bed got them for 26,000 with 60,000 miles the one he did he paid around the same for all of them and those are some expensive trucks my buddy has a special ops addition that thing was over 100,000 the 350

Lol I’m 5’2 busty blonde, 42 yo, and wear a sundress and wedge sandals when I overland with a group of younger guys with super modified older yota’s. I hold my own! My husband is happy in the passenger seat playing dj and praying/sweating when I push limits. It’s just such a great vehicle, only similar clearance vehicle I’ve had was a CJ7 with lift, 33’s back in college and I was floored by the performance (and added comforts, ha!) of the 21 TRD off-road premium. Got the 3” Ironman pro cell lift at Toyota, 285 toyo at3’s (they cut the fender so cleanly you just don’t notice and I don’t miss the mudflaps) and my KDSS is intact still, sooo excited to find out what she’ll easily climb over now. I almost feel like I’m cheating, no one else has the comfort in their older yota’s, and I hope to find a trail/terrain feature she struggles with. Looove your content! Happy I found your videos!!

@@annapartlow2926 I love the comfort of my 4runner as well, It's not nearly as good as the GX comfort but I think we are still a lot more capable than a GX460 with better angles. I think the only thing different between the newest ones that I really would like is the push button start which I believe yours has.

Why does every youtube channel list a fucking segmented plastic tray and floor mats as "mods"? Is running an armorall covered rag across the dash considered a mod too? How about wax? Waxing the vehicle a mod? By definition, you're modifying the vehicle every time you change gears, and it's modifying its current disposition, so does moving from "park" to "drive" make it to any of these lists? Yeah, it might be a literal adherence to the concept, but it's certainly a violation of the spirit of the term, and goddamn obnoxious to waste so much time seeing this nonsense when looking for relevant and legitimate "mods".

I watched a ton of videos before I finalized my top ones and legit didn’t see anything about the blind spot monitor, the pocket storage or the hitch. Most is the ones I saw had sequential turn signals and raptor lights. Did a lot of them have black out emblems, yeah, almost all of them but I think there’s people looking for stuff like that when they first start out. Did a lot of them have LED lights? …also yeah. But I tried to add some stuff to a video idea that has been done but someone new would actually need.
