Oxford Heaterz Premium Heated Grips Buying Guide www.revzilla.co... Cold hands make for no good motorcycling experience. Aside from the comfort factor, having cold hands makes you less responsive to road conditions. It is a safety factor at that point. Warm hands, like warm muscles and warm engines, perform better. If you are an all-weather, all-year type of rider, Oxford heated grips are a high-value, high-bang-for-your-buck option to help make the most out of your time on two wheels.

I have installed the Oxford grips on two different bikes in the past year and suggested to be extra careful with the super glue. I would not put the glue in the tube and only on the bar, especially on the throttle side. On the throttle, side be extra careful and only put glue on the bar from the outermost part to 3/4 in. Otherwise, you risk super gluing your throttle as the glue will get under the tube. Then you will have to start all over and disassemble your throttle tube and cables to clean it all out which makes this a much harder installation than you may have wanted. About the product itself, I love them. Oem heaters are great if they come already installed, and if they don't I would buy the Oxford every time. I'm not crazy about the mounting bracket as I have to always have to modify it in some way for my bikes. I also spray paint the mount black to match my bars, most bikes brake or mirror clamps are black so why do them in silver that it stands out .

Just thought I'd post a comment on my install experience for anyone installing these. I've never done work on any sort of vehicle before I installed this and I was able to install everything onto a Honda NC700x without much of a problem. The biggest snag I had came from the throttle side since the tube had ridges on it and a lip on the end of the throttle tube. We sanded these down and the grip slipped on easily after that. A fair warning if you do have to sand your throttle tube: the powder that you'll get from the sanding process burns your skin. I'm sure that's making seasoned mechanics facepalm like mad and I should have probably had the common sense to have worn at least a mask to not inhale the dust, but it was a pretty painful experience to get burned by that crap in either event, so just a heads up. After using them at night for a week or so (it drops to roughly 65 here at night which is chillier than you'd expect on a bike), I'd definitely rate them 10/10, especially given the price.

Just fitted mine today… totally recommend these Oxford heaterz… super easy to use… quick one button full heat switch on by just holding the + button for two seconds… plus can be switched off quickly too using the - button again for two seconds… has enough heat settings to suit all environments… when the engine is switched off, it will carry on till it reads a drop in voltage, then switches to standby mode, then after five minutes the unit switches off completely, so no worries about being forgetful… easy to install and the only lengthy part is removing the old grips… can't wait to test them out and hear what all the rage is, as I've heard once you've tried you ain't going back to icy rubber… great vid btw;))

Just got my Touring model of these and let me tell you that the installation "ease" varies widely by bike. I have an ST1300 and it took me several DAYS to get these installed. Biggest problem was the tight tolerance between the inside diameter of grips and the outside diameter of bar and throttle sleeve. In addition, these grips are covered in rubber on the inside so they've added friction with that material on the inside. I've heard alot of horror stories about folks only getting the grips on half way when the glue kicks off. This then requires a destruction of the grips to get them off. In my case I wanted to make sure they dry fit before applying the glue. However, could only slide them on ~1-2", and that was using soapy water. Totally stuck on how to proceed. I spent about 20 minutes filing and sanding down throttle sleeve, but not much room to play with. On clutch side I used emery paper to remove old glue. Eventually said F-IT and got a water soluble lubricant (you'll find it in drugstore by condoms :-)) to do a final install. It took all my strength, and a few new blisters, to get the grips on. Even so, I would have liked the throttle side to go on another 1/2 - 3/4" or so. Caveat Emptor

Fellow ST1300 owner here. In your opinion is the glue really necessary for a good fit? Also have to rode with them yet to see if they give off enough heat? Thinking about adding a set as I am about to add an aux fuse box to the bike. Thanks in advance!
@Finnydip
@Finnydip 3 жыл бұрын
@@nlopitziii For my install glue wasn’t necessary at all. In fact just opposite, I needed a lubricant to fully get them on. Ended up using a water based type that you find in drug store. I just rode them yesterday in 36-41degree temps for two hrs. They had plenty of heat, but end of finger tips still got a bit cold since they were touching the grips. Next step is heated vest. Btw, I considered putting in a fuse box but didn’t know if that would interfere with the current sensing and auto off function of the controller. Let me know how your install goes, I’m curious if I’m only 1300 owner who’s had problem fitting these. Exact model is the “Heaterz EVO” Touring

Just opened my Oxford Grips up, I was waiting for my bars to come in. It appears that the inside of both my left and right grips are the same diameter. They Are both the smaller size of the clutch side. They are marked properly left and right but the right one is not even close to fitting with a throttle tube in place. I've measured both inside diameters and they appear to be exactly the same. Must be a packing or manufacturing error. I just sent an email to Revzilla.

My problem with the older version of Oxford HotGrips is that the rubber is turning to mush under the palm where it gets hottest after just a couple of winters. What to do??? The other problem of-course is that the fingers are still very cold while the palm is overheating. Controlling the temperature is difficult because there is no thermostat feedback. You have to crank it to 100% then bring it down manually while riding to prevent overheating.

Ninja 300 ABS. I measured OEM grips approx 4.75 inches. The Touring model (listed at 4.72") is a mm short. The Sports model is longer, but trimmable, and still within spec according to Oxford. I'm just worried that the Sports model isn't as durable and will wear out quickly. Anyone have experiences with Oxford heated grips on a Ninja 300? Touring or Sport version? Hey Revzilla Please Answer me :) I am thinking of linking these grips into the electrical system instead of the power system, so they turn off imediately after I turn the bike of. Do you think this is a good idea? will I lose any functionality? Could you suggest a suitable position in the electrical system? (I was thinking of spitting the line to the little sidelight that I swapped to an LED so it draws less power). Thank you for your answer!

Yes, you can wire these into a switched circuit on your bike. You need to make sure that the circuit you choose can handle the current draw. I cannot suggest a definitive place to tap, though, as not all bikes are the same. -DrewZilla

I fitted the Scooter variant to my Motorcycle because I like the way the switch discreetly fits into the fairing and only draws 3A. One question I have in regard to wiring it directly to the battery as per instructions is the automatic cutoff to prevent draining the battery if it is accidentally left on or switched on by a passerby as a cruel joke: Does the scooter variant also have the automatic cutoff or is it just the larger models? Can't find any mention of it but Oxford grips are known for that so I'm not sure.

RevZilla, will these heated grips interfere with the Gore Tex membrane on my gloves? I assume that if the temperature on the surface of the grips is warmer than the inside of my glove, it will therefore let water get inside the glove, right? Could you please clarify this? Thank you very much, love your videos.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 5 жыл бұрын
Theoretically, that is a slight possibility, but in real use, we find it doesn't really happen. It's important to periodically refresh the durable water repellant used on the surface of Gore-Tex gloves, either by tumble drying or applying more DWR. Alternately, we find that with heated grips, you can actually get so much heat to your hands that they sweat, and we think this moisture from sweat is what some people are actually feeling, not water from the outside. -DrewZilla
