I applaud this sentiment. I am searching for the history, amazed at the things I did not know (or was never taught!) and this video is very helpful. My eyes have been opened to what is really happening. The news as we receive it from the BBC/Sky/MSNBC etc is distorting the whole situation! We must do our own research!

Dear friends, the founder of Falun Dafa, Master Li Hongzhi, for the very first time addressed the whole of humanity. Falun Dafa is a self cultivation practice, based on Universal principles: Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. In China it has been brutally persecuted by the Chinese communist party since 1999. How Humankind Came To Be "... Since it’s the new year, I should have said a few festive words that everyone likes to hear, but I see danger is getting closer and closer to mankind. Because of this, Gods and Buddhas asked me to tell all beings in the world a few words that the Gods wish to say. Every word reveals heavenly secrets, and the purpose is for people to know the truth and be given another opportunity to be saved." *** Why the Creator Seeks to Save All Life "...The Creator is the Lord of all divine beings in the Cosmos. He is the maker of the Lord of lords, of the King of kings, and He is the Sovereign of all lives-including the Three Realms’ human lives, spiritual beings, and material things, all of which He made. His love is the highest and most sacred blessing for all lives! There is no greater honor for any person in this world than to be loved by Him!" New articles by Master Li Hongzhi on Minghui website

I mean, coming from a socialist and anarchist myself, Chomsky is a bit of a chach. His position on numerous issues is essentially only opposition to the United States. Regardless of your opinion of the US and NATO (I am not fond of them either) it is outrageous and intellectually dishonest to defend the Milosevic regime in Serbia and to actively deny the Bosnian genocide as he has done on numerous occasions, simply because it is conforms with his anti-"west" position.

COL R KEMP COMMANDER OF UK FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN TESTIMONY AT UN: -"Israel did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare. -Israel faces enemy deliberately positioning its military behind human shield of civilians -Hamas - expert at driving media agenda. -Always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents." Israel faces a challenge that we UK do not. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by international media, & human rights groups, that Israel in wrong, while abusing human rights. Israel took extraordinary measures to give Gazans notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties. Israel allowed huge amounts of humanitarian aid to Gaza. To deliver aid virtually into your enemy's hands is, to the military tactician -unthinkable. But Israel took those risks.
Despite all, innocent civilians were killed. War is chaos & full of mistakes. Countless mistakes by UK. US & others in Afghanistan & Iraq. Human errors. Mistakes are not war crimes. Civilian casualties -consequence of HAMAS DELIBERATELY SACRIFICING PALESTINIANS.

Israel is a legal state, a UN member, and a tremendous success by all standards, except The Will of Allah, as interpreted by Suha Arafat. "Palestine" is corruption, failure, does not provide any support/services, except for terrorism abroad and clan wars at home. Israel includes an Arab population. There is no reason why Israel, or anyone else, should support the Palestine position that Jews may never live in the Lands of the Arabs/Islam.

What a speech, and the courage to state things, uncomfortable things, that are not favouring an obviously xenophobic government, to the contrary what so many western countries are doing at this time without doing any research or educating themselves on the matter, is what people, the average person most importantly needs to see. I find that the general mood in the world is highly steered by the media taking sides (no matter why) and that results so often in creating gaps in societies and fueling a finger pointing attitude followed by hate. How is that democratic or more importantly humane? As this extremely smart man says, what a strange sign of brotherhood when burning down houses, we are burning down too many bridges and letting extremists such as Netanyahu blend people with their propaganda to put their antihuman agendas through. It's a shame that such videos have such view numbers and some random, headless chicken so called influencers have millions of views. Thanks for being the man you are Professor.

@@1czechit1 Your comment is a sad, sad example of bias being pushed as objectivity. First of all, whether you like it or not Avi Shlaim is a scholar. Even if you disagree with him, his works are put up to academic standard and have come through with flying colours by others in his field. Secondly you are an embarrassment for suggesting Shmuel Katz is a balanced author. If Shlaim is an activist, Katz is the father of activism. He has a long history in multiple Israeli far right political parties (like Tehiya) and even took part in the Israeli paramilitary that killed Palestinians to take land. He literally could not be a more biased and unbalanced view. Joseph Schechtman again is a Zionist political activist who pushed early Zionist movemnts. You sure are getting confused between academics and activists. If you truly are as concerned about objectivity and balance as you claim, i recommend you get your head out of Zionist authorship and maybe read a Palestinian author instead of far right Zionists. This entire conversation we have had has not mentioned a single Palestinian author while you are arguing about balance. Maybe that will help, dont you think? I really hope you are an undergraduate because your academic standards are horrible.

Tauber, Eliezer is a scholar that researched a topic and let the facts lead where they may. And. his work on the Dir Yassin battle disproves what you said about Shmuel Katz whose multi volume work on Jabotinsky is without axe grinding that I noticed I other historians and biographies. Unfortunately Shlaim misuses the terms apartheid and occupation showing he is an activist and a polemicist rather than a scholar. He ignores Israel's creation along with the Arb states of Syria and Iraq, the pleadings of the Jews and Arabs at the Paris Peace conference, nor does he care. Largely because he is an activist against Israel. He has no problem stooping to disinformation and the most low level conspiracy theories such as blaming "zionists" for the 1950's bombings of Jews in Iraq. Schechtman on the other hand is a historian of the the Revisionist movement (without the polemics of Shalim in the :Iron wall.") Schechtman's book was not written to besmirch any side or glorify any side, bur rather to present the events of the early Revisionists and their impact on the economy of the Yeshuv. I suggest you get beyond the socialist realism and read real history and let the information lead where it may. I suggest Dir Yassin the massacre that wasn't. or Dir Yassin end of a Myth by Uri Milstien. A good way to separate the historians from the activists is if they consider Oct 7th as "the reaction to the occupation." Anyone who says something like that is not a serous person.@@lukethomeret-duran5273

I suggest you get your head out of the Israeli nationalist apologetics authorship and read academics who do not blindly defend colonial settler expansion. Maybe then you will have a balanced world view that does not glorify ethnic cleansing by israelíes

Coming to Tibet, it is considered to be Chinese territory according to International law. While this does not mean that I condone what China did (and still does to its minorities) the Tibetans have citizenship and the UN recognizes Tibet as territory of the PRC. Legally it is not an occupation. This does not mean that there aren't human rights abuses though.

Legality is not the issue here. Correct History is the issue. Tibet was an independent country since 1911, before that it was in agreement with the Manchu Empire what was called Priest-Patron agreement, by which Manchu Empire (not China) had to take care of the external border of Tibet. Otherwise Tibet was an independent country. Before the Manchus, Tibet had similar agreement with the Mongol Empire. Neither Mongols nor the Manchus are Chinese. Tibet was never a part of China. That is also true about East Turkestan, Inner Mongolia and Manchuria.

lets see... International laws... that would be treaties. The Jews got title to the land in the tray of Sevres in August 1920 (article 95) the Arabs got Syria and Iraq. rights... the Jews had rights to live in the east bank (aka Trans-Jordan) under article 5 of the Mandate to reconstitute a jewish state. There was no Palestine, there never was a Palestine. there is no occupation after June 1967 since Israel only recovered lost territories occupied by foreign Arab countries in 1948. Had the Arabs respected international law, Israel would have been independent before WWII, jewish immigration would not have been stopped by the British (due to Arab violence) and the Holocaust would have not been so horrific. However the Arabs attacked Israel, ethnically cleansed Jewish communities as early as 1923.

The settlements erected during that period were mainly for security reasons. During that period, there very few checkpoints, and all of them for security purpose only. Until 1977 visit of Egyption President, no arab leader acknowledged Israel's right to exist. BTW: Anwar El-Sadat was murdered in Cairo as a result. Just a reminder that in August 1967, the Arab League declared the three No's, No recognition, No negotiations and No peace. So far, not a single Arab leader offered a solution to achieve Peace when Israel is part of it.
