In this video we look at some of the exciting projects I have been working on since my last video. We look at a prototype straightness instrument, a composite master square, a mini angle plate, electronic depth gage, Renzetti universal 1-2-3 blocks, four Rotating tailstock four jaw, Ultradex Indexer, WEDM vise, adjustable v blocks.

Interesting projects there, Mr! We have a fabricated angle plate at work, to square up large plates on the surface grinders, and it works just as fine as a solid one. Love the small angle-plate for toolgrinding, I will brazenly copy that one :)

Love your blocks man... Finally some said @22:30 conventional blocks are basically tragic for doing stuff you really want to do... Awesome stuff. Love that fact that tool making is being pushed forward in a meaningful, useful and relevant way in the 21 st Century. Great Stuff !

A "productive sabbatical" is good for active minds, and you are certainly active! Glad you could break the silence and share your work. Exciting projects. I am a mini-pallet disciple especially interested in the new fixtures. I'll have my finger on the play button while I make some chips myself. Thanks sir. M'G

Glad to see you back. I too went to see the eclipse (about a 2 1/4 hr. trip), was within a few miles (dumb luck) of the Eclipse center (the point where the Moon's shadow was almost perfectly symmetrical), was my first total and I was very much impressed.

I am so glad everything is ok, that you are back, and that there wasn't some personal crisis that kept you from contributing. Your work is consistently interesting and informative. I check your channel frequently and must admit that I was a bit concerned. I know about how work getting in the way. I can barely get a video out every 2 weeks these days. By the way, thanks for wearing my shirt. I am honored.

Tom - My recommendation regarding heat treating your gage tolerance block is to have it cryogenically treated to convert the retained austenite into martensite. Otherwise there will be a natural conversion over time that will result in distortion because of the volume change.

Tom: Perhaps of interest re your surface plate level profiler, when I was senior repair tech at a since defunct cal lab I got tagged by our dimensional side to try to repair a surface plate profiler probe (they had dropped). The way it worked was heavy footed base like yours, but sensor was a multi-looped rectangular copper frame shape on a knife edge pivot on top and low end affected the inductance of two coils. Reading was differential inductance between the two coils. Tip one way copper loop moved toward one coil, it drops and other increases in inductance. Was VERY sensitive. As I recall read in millionths. Software did the plotting and would spit out a profile map. Don't recall the interface, but whole thing ran on a laptop.
