jeshedu Yadav No , when you look at the heart from anterior try to look at the very lower left part (the left of the cadaver not your left) and the curved point is the apex , you can also google it

Ive reviewed this concept every few years and its never stuck, but I think it will now--the way you tied in the muscles and lungs to the features that cause the curve to shift was extremely effective! Thank you for sharing!

FINALLY A SIMPLE EXPLANATION!! I couldn't study this curve for weeks and now that I'm cramming for my exam, this lecture helped a lot. Especially when I saw how the curve is drawn and which side is which with the factors affecting it. Thank you so much!

@megan moon. They said it was because by the time 3 oxygens have bound to Hb, it is more difficult for the fourth oxygen to bind because there is only one space left to fill. It's because the red blood cell has to bump around the right way to fill that last space with oxygen. So maybe the actual affinity for the fourth oxygen is higher still but it is harder to make it saturated because the red blood cell with the free space left for the fourth oxygen has to bump into an oxygen correctly for it to do bind and that is why the curve levels off?
