In order to test continuous SpO2 on smartwatches we need a particularly accurate and medically certified device - and we have that in front of us today. The Wellue O2Ring Wearable Sleep Monitor. The O2 ring takes a heart rate and SpO2 reading every 1 second.
In essence the O2 ring is a Medical - grade Continuous Ring Oxygen Monitor. The ring in the name does suggest that you place it on your finger. But not only does it show you the spot and continuous pulse rate and SpO2 metrics on the OLED touchscreen it also alerts you via vibrations that are adjustable in strength if it records low oxygen level or abnormal heart-rate. In addition there is a free iOS and Android App that records and plots your latest results onto SpO2 and heart rate charts. You can analyze your trendsl, export the data and so forth.
The ring is a one-size-fits-all, dimensions are 1.5” * 1,2” the outer OLED touchscreen is black and slick. You get to see key health stats and the battery charge left. The inner ring in is made of soft silicone that wraps around your finger for a relatively tight fit to keep the device in place and stop it spinning around. The ring circumference is rubberized and stretches from 50-82mm.
If we look inside the ring we will see the Led emitter and the photodiode on the other side. What these two points indicate is that the )2 ring implements ‘transmissive‘ pulse oximetry technology.

Tip: if wearing in bed, swivel it around your ringer to be palm-side. Also less likely to knock into things (walls, bedside tables, glasses of water...).

Thanks for another good review. 👍 This looks like a very useful device compared to the traditional finger clip style pulse oximeter - especially good for those with poor blood flow to the tips of their fingers (like the elderly). I also really like the added flexibility of the app to monitor your data over time, as well as the CSV export option. Have you compared the accuracy of the device against other devices? ATB

I just opened it, the instructions are a joke for overnight sleep evaluation, but the device looks great. Will do my best to figure out how it works for sleep evaluation

Thank you. Your video is great. I looked at my O2ring and I do not find the "share as binary file": I just have "share as CSV" and "Save as picture". Any idea ??

The ring showed my overnight O2 was above 90%. It showed my wife’s O2 dropped to nearly 80% multiple times overnight. She told me it woke her up buzzing too often. Her old CPAP machine is getting replaced with an auto CPAP.

I ordered this ring, and the top completely separated from the silicone bottom. I used a tape to keep it together. Their IOS app doesn’t work anymore, making the ring completely useless. It was very expensive, I could just order a random $10 pulse oximeter from Amazon. Their customer service are not responsive, once every few days they would tell me to take a picture, record a video or check if I have the latest update. But their app won’t even open, it’s immediately crashes. There are many other reviewers has the same issue. I don’t recommend this product.

Hi WN! Since it fits onto your finger, it would most likely slip and readings would be off.. but technically yes. Also, considering the readings are every 1sec this will give you more accuracy than any smartwatch!

I work in physical therapy, so I see patients in the outpatient setting and even in the hospital setting. My issues with regular monitors is that they fall off the finger or if a patient has a grip on a walker it ruins the reading. Do you think it could work in those settings? My other thought was to get a garmin watch that measures heart rate and Sp02, might not be as accurate but more functional

Can export the binary then import it into OSCAR (CPAP app but can take O2Ring on its own - via a "hidden" import option under Data main-menu-item)

Oxigen measurement range starts at 70 % which is not enough. I my case it goes down to 61% and the ring from CIRCUL can measure this and goes even further down.

If your oxygen level goes down that low, shouldnt you be in the hospital?

Why would you need it to go down that low? Anything under 75 is a medical emergency

I have one and after one night the fingered holder was loose. And a couple weeks it practically falls off the finger. That would be fine IF one could simply replace the finger holder but your can’t. it’s a pain to sleep with now as one is constantly managing the device on ones finger. And it has to be secure otherwise the O2 readings fluctuate! Guess I need to TAPE IT TO MY FINGER !
