Buck made a knife called the Reaper that was basically the same knife years ago and to be honest is an awesome light use knife. I have one and I love it, made of 420HC, Bos heat treat, and USA made it was $45 at the time, and has the same style sheath. Ozark Trail makes some good budget knives that will work for what most people need. Thanks for the review.

I think the Buck Reaper is slightly hollow ground. Is that the case? The Ozark Trail 11 inch knife is a high sabre with a flat grind on the bottom 3/4, which I much prefer to high_sabre/hollow. The Chinese 440A (7cr17) sharpens up real well. Probably doesn't last, so take a field sharpening kit. This would be amazing in the 01 to 52100 grade of steels. I convexed the last 1.5 millimeters, which helps with cutting efficiency and fine wood shaving. Mine was on sale at $17 about a year ago when I got it. I also worried I was buying junk. The scales were a little warped and loose, so I got out a heat gun and flattened them. The corby screws or whatever they are called were gunked with some kind of glue or thread lock, so I cleaned and re-tapped them. The pakka wood composite responds really well to heat and a little bending. They were still a little too thin, so I added a thin layer of G10 on each side, counter sunk the screw holes a little to compensate and glued the G10 to the wood (inside). The handles are straight, solid and the right width now (med/large hands). I had to taper the top of the scales a little to fit back into the sheath, but that just makes the grip more comfortable for pinch grip, so it's a win-win and the knife fits very snugly in the sheath with just a micro-rattle. I sanded (500) the shine off the pakka wood scales for better grip when wet. I'll add some checkering if that isn't enough. It probably won't take teak or danish oil with all that epoxy in the wood. So now I have a solid feeling mid-size outdoors knife ready for action. I like the mixed abilities of light chopping and fine cutting with this mid-size class of knife. It's running at 8.7 ounces now with 0.85 inch scales at the wide middle part, 0.147 inch thick blade, 6.4 inch long blade and 5.6 inch edge. I may dull the bottom 1/16 inch of edge so I can use the choil safely or just extend the choil that much. I'll leave the black coating on until it gets all spotty and annoys me, then strip it off with aircraft stripper. It's camping time in southern Arizona, so off we go to get out the desert and find some woods.

Thats a very good question i bought a lot of cold steel knifes and some fix blades beat the heck out of them. Now the knifes at Walmart are starting to intest me. One because I don't have to order them on line. 2 in my Walmart in the case. They have some good name brand one like crkt/Buck/Sog/Victorinox/ Gerber/old timer fix blade. These are mostly folders but there are fix blades as well.

The best use for this 'knife' is really defined by it's price. It's not a bad gardening tool, but really... If you can use this to trade for a couple cans of beans in an SHTF situation, or a jar of instant coffee, then yeah, money well spent. Other than that, sorry I'm more convinced that this 'Thing' was clearly designed to sell to easily impressed 11 year olds wandering the knife aile while mommy shopped across the store in the food section...

So I watched this video of yours a few months back, and was recently at Walmart with $20 burning a hole in my pocket, so I pulled the trigger and bought this knife😬. I decided since I've never thrown a knife before maybe I should take some precautions, so I ordered me some chainmail⛓️ from a medieval times Internet site👍. The day my chain mail arrived my neighbor happen to be having a garage sale as well, and was selling a welding helmet. I thought to myself, hey this would be great protection for my face so I bought it for the 25 bucks👍. When I took the welding helmet home and tried it on I was surprised how much of my vision was obstructed. I thought to myself oh well🤷, the odds that knife blade bouncing back and coming through that tiny rectangle were slim to none, and definitely worth trading a little peripheral vision for some added safety👍. Anyway I found a nice target tree in my backyard to throw at, and my step mother and little sister came down to the back of the yard with our little puppy Fluffy to watch the knives first ever flight😎. Well needless to say my first-ever knife throw will be my last throw ever, what I didn't take into consideration was my lack of peripheral vision caused from my helmet. Sadly when I went to throw the knife our new little puppy must have thought it was a stick, and came running from the right side of my obstructed field of view😔. The knife fully impaled our puppy right behind his front right shoulder killing it almost instantly on impact 💔😰. My mother instinctively tried to pull the knife out of Fluffy but grab the wrong end of the knife nearly severing her finger completely off. It was horrible my little sister ran frantically towards the house yelling and screaming for help, but tripped and landed directly on a sharp little pointy tree stump caused by me chopping through a little sapling right before my first knife throw. The next day after my sister was released from the hospital and mom's fingers were stitched up we buried fluffy 🐩 right at ground zero, having a little makeshift family funeral🙏. Later on in the day my mom made me return the knife to Walmart and we used the money to buy some sterile gauze for my sister's wound care and some hydrogen peroxide for my mother's lacerations. 😕 I think I will just stick to watching knife-throwing on KZfaq and some mental counseling for the time being 👋😕✌️.

The deaf policeman heard the noise, Came and shot the two dead boys. If you don’t believe this lie is true, Ask the blind man, he saw it too.
