Looking for a wall tent on a budget? Check out this Ozark Trail North Fork Wall Tent that Guide Steven James picked up from Walmart! Most people want a wall tent, but that $1000+ pricetag is usually out of most peoples budget. After a couple months of researching, he found this tent and decided to pull the trigger to see if it was a good tent for the price. Obviously it hasn't been used in the field so to speak, but it has been set up in cold weather, and the tent experienced its first rain and snow the first night it was set up. Let us know in the comments what you think of this tent!

I bought this tent. It's strong and durable l. I was a guide for 26 years and paid a lot of money for my guide tent's. This tent is as good as any of my more expensive tent's and in some cases, better. East set up to. I'm retired now, and have a small piece of property and set this tent up and it will be set up for a year, deer, season for my personal pleasure will be great. Thank you for sharing your video

I've been shopping for a wall/hot tent for awhile now and didn't like the looks of some or just couldn't afford others. Then I ran into your review. After watching, I decided to purchase one, ordered last Feb and happened to recieve it 7 days later via fedex during a work layoff. That made me happy as I was home when it was delivered, didn't have to worry about a porch burgler...lol. I've set up the frame to familiarize myself with it and plan to take it camping here soon for a complete set up. Land lord won't let me set it up at home so... Anyway, great video. Thanks for your great review I think it helped me a lot! Stay strong, Stay smart and keep the Faith.

Well here I iz, your 526th subscriber! Glad I came across your review of this Walmart Ozark Trail wall tent. As I still love the outdoors and hunting, yet retired on SSD, I'm on a fixed income. Been looking the last 2 years at Davis tents, and other's of better known and much higher costly repute, and just couldn't pull the trigger, even though they're quality made, heavier canvas products, etc. Your review seems to lean me towards buying this tent for the quality and extras built in for the money, and other than the eye bolt issue, I could handle putting up myself. I am 63 years old, and do have back problems with a Titanium clamp in neck. Mainly it would be just myself in the tent, possibly wife once in awhile. I don't have any hunting buddies to speak of, so no extra hands to facilitate quicker setup. Want to use this tent as a base camp tent and should have plenty of room for stove, table, cot, etc. I also would put a tarp over tent and extend out over doors. A home away from home so to speak! I would mainly do day hunts by myself and come back to wall tent. I live in SW Wyoming, in high desert area. To Elk hunt in higher elevations, 7500-9500 feet with timber, is where I'd like to use this wall tent. This tent will handle the snow, rain, and/or wind that normally happens in mid to late October correct? I'm thinking it will, placed correctly! But wanted to thank you for your review on showing all of us that there are other possibilities for an affordable, yet quality built wall tent! Most KZfaq outdoors hunting affiliated people push the highest, most expensive gear, that you must have in order to have a successful hunt! Sitka clothing, Swarovski and Nightforce optics, $3000-5000 rifles, $400-700 framed backpacks. The list goes on. Thank you again for helping out the regular blue collar individuals!

I've finally had a chance to Use it on an actual camping trip and I am waiting on some inclement weather to roll in so I can get it out one more time to review it in different weather on the mountain. Great video and review. I have same tent and have only used once, but worked great on cold, late season deer hunt. Would like to hear your thoughts (or another video) on adding a custom awning with 8' front overhang like you mentioned. Specifically, I'm thinking of using conduit piping, but not sure how to tie that into the tent itself,, and whether that would be necessary or not? I don't want to rely on just guyout lines to get it taught, and would like walls of front awning to come to ground to keep firewood and gear dry . What do you think?

Great video! I watched this prior to setting up my tent and was a huge help. One thing I couldn’t figure out is that the floor and the tent had eye rings and I wasn’t sure where the tent eye ring should go. I put the floor eye ring in the post. Didn’t seem like both would fit. Any tips?

I've always attached the tent eye bolts to the frame legs, and just left the floor ones out. I figured I'd rather have the tent attached to the frame than the floor because the floor is secured to the tent with the Velcro and corner buckles.

Exactly!! We would of never imagined an Ozark Trail tent being this good of quality. We've been camping in it the past 4 days and have experienced light snow, extremely high winds with crazy gusts, rain and now today is 80 degrees and it's held up amazingly. For $400, this tent is well worth alot more. We've been running an Alpine Tent Stove from Camp Chef and it was 22 degrees last night and we were able to keep the tent around 65 degrees so it was extremely nice!!!

Actually you can fit 3 cots in the back if you are used to military style of climbing from the bottom. Or at least 4 people in sleeping bags, comfortably... Good option for a hunting or field work solution, while still having sufficient space at the front for storage.... one can allways cook on a fire onfront. That-s my favorite setup, except if one of you companions snores... Also that little disciplines like going without shoes, leaving them in the front for the main reasons of not damaging the bottom in a little rocky ground (which I an see isn't your case); in said situation I suggest a heavy duty tarp tucked up beneath as a first layer. Same wiith things with legs like tables or the cots themselves... If you are in a wet or frozen ground situation, isolation goes first, so either cushion what goes avobe or put a first layer below. II suggest both, a 3 pound tarp won´t add any significant weight to that setup, and you can use it above or below, depending on the landscape and climate.

Great video! I've been seriously considering this tent because of the price point and my extremely small budget. I'm wondering what your thoughts are about using this tent long-term (6 months or so) while I build my cabin. My plan is to build an elevated floor and secure the bottom of the walls with a 1x4 screwed to the frame of the deck to keep critters out. I'm doing my off-grid build in Northwest Arizona (Golden Valley) so I'm not too concerned about winter conditions being too harsh. I have a wood burning stove I will use for heat.

It's about 100 pounds altogether, excluding the stove. The tent and frame all fit in the carrying case. You'd be able to attach it somehow to some pack saddles, but you'd need to counterweight and 200lbs of weight would take a strong horse, half draft or mule. We split in up and put frame on one side of the pack saddle and the canvas on the other side.

I ordered a camp chef alpine wood stove (I saw you had one in another comment). I know the pipe flares up to 6". Was that a problem going through the stove jack or was it ok? Also curious if you need to use heat shields on the walls?

It's held up extremely well in weather and high winds. You may have to tighten some guy lines after heavy wind but usually have to do that with all tents anyways. I use a camp chef alpine stove and trust me, this tent holds heat quite well

Hey there, Steven has used the Camp Chef Spline stove on multiple trips and has loved it! He had a night where his stove got blazing hot and red, filled the entire tent with smoke, and he was impressed that the material didn't melt. A heat shield wouldn't be a bad investment nor idea at all, but he hasn't had one and it's done great. He's put the tent through a few tests just to back up his video and he's been extremely impressed!!

Hey Jerry, thanks for commenting! Yes, our guide Steven and his family have camped quite a bit this spring and summer in this tent. They have really enjoyed it. Steven did rip one of the corners out on accident and Wal-Mart replaced the tent no questions asked, although, you only have 90 days to return it. But, they've camped in high winds, rain and snow so far with no issues!

Can it hold heavy snow on top and not be ruined because this tent seems like the best deal never done a hot tent but want to for this year's hunting trip I live in Montana so the snow we get is heavy snow and heavy winds

Haven't had it long enough to know if it will handle alot of snow. It seems to be pretty sturdy for the price though. I don't know if it'll handle heavy snow like a Montana or other canvas wall tent, unless you are there and can push the snow off when it builds. The material is super tight though with little stretch so I would think the snow would slide off quite easily
