💸💰💸For those of you that might still want to shop this week, this is the small list I compiled from the weekly sale ads: 10 Box sirloin tip roast - $3.66 + 10% = $4.026 per pound 80% ground beef - $2.98 + 10% = $3.278 per pound slicing tomatoes - $0.98 + 10% = $1.078 per pound Aldi mandarins - 3 lbs. for $2.99 strawberries - 1 lb. for $1.99 Kroger 2x the Fuel Points on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday with digital coupon

I love your videos & how you explain everything! I'm 73 & grew up where I didn't know we were poor until I grew up & saw what other people had...BUT we always had a hot breakfast before school, snack after school & big supper....my single mom worked & my grandmother lived with us & she ALWAYS made sure her babies were well fed! We may not have had the most glamorous meals but they were simple, delicious & filing. As I grew up I always remembered how frugal she was & just only knew that way of surviving. I was divorced young with 2 kids in the 70's & sometimes only had $25/week for groceries, but I knew how to shop frugally & my kids always had a good meal.....Now retired, I have a VERY limited income & grocery budget, BUT I always shop sales & if it's a good one I bought as many extra as $$ would allow. I've always got a full pantry & freezer! My daughter laughs at my pantry sometimes, but I tell her if I couldn't get to store for whatever reason I'll be just fine for several weeks or months & maybe only have to buy bread or fresh produce....but if I couldn't get fresh fruits/veggies I have canned......it can be done if people would only learn how to shop!! Keep up the good work!

Janice, it’s just my hubby and myself in our home, my 23 year old grandson works hard and has bought his own home at the age of 21 ( he is single ) the other day he was over, he stops by almost everyday to visit, he said grandma do you have any extra food I can have I said of course go look in the freezer in the washroom he yelled out. This is like going to Costco‘s. I had to laugh so I understand about stocking up and being prepared if anybody I know, need some thing are more than welcome to come over and get what they need out of the pantry or the freezers. We have been there hard times we know.

Janice, don't worry about what other people think. I personally keep a "26 week pantry" meaning I can feed my family for 26 weeks without a grocery store. Yes, we would have less fresh fruit and produce, but when times come up that I can't grocery shop (like now, I've had covid sine Jan 4th), my family still has homecooked meals. You do you and keep being the happy person you are ❤

Another thought- I grew up in the 1950’s in a semi rural setting living a simple life. We did not have instant access to news. We had an old dial phone on a party line with multiple families that was used by parents, not kids. The only advertisement we saw was the Sears Christmas catalogue. Our old TV got 2 channels with limited hours of being on the air and very limited programs. Etc Etc. Our simple life routines made for a stable ,self reliant , routine away from world chaos or agendas of pressure to be anything that the world creates. I think our modern world needs less input , slower speed and a simpler more human focus. I love today’s video! Peace be with you!

Sweet Janice, despite computer systems all over the U.S. hacked by an alleged cyber attack by the Chinese, you video came across nice and clear for me. You know how much seeing you radiant smile along with your super happy girl, Abigail, who I wish I could do something special just for her and that million dollar smile a lot like yours! Went to get bilateral knee injections today as both knees stricken badly with severe arthritis and I was a bit chagrined by my doctor saying I’m going too long between treatments, therefore, my next injections will be in 16 weeks. Still no inside running water, but friends from Church remain a source of graciousness and kindness in allowing us to visit twice a week for showers. I can’t shower until Monday per doctor’s instructions and take it easy. I’m beginning to major in easy. Anyway, I continue to pray for my favorite Missouri family for loving me and praying for me as God has been generous to me through your demonstration of grace under pressure. With all the pieces of my heart ❤️❤️❤️😇😇😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏🙏😘😉😉😉

When I was a single working mum, I just shopped the sales and the discount items. My friends were amazed at how I could feed everyone for so less. But my kids knew if they ate it all it was gone until it went on sale again. I tried to estimate how much would be consumed before it cycled back on sale again. You do a great juggling act of providing lovely meals and food experiences for your family. I had wonderful, beautiful, patient children who understood food savings meant more budget for fun. Everyone has different priorities, that’s the beauty of the world, everyone is different and unique. ❤

I sometimes wonder about people and the fact that they just don't get it and this includes some of my family members. These nay sayers or folks who criticize those who have a well stocked pantry are the one's that are gonna be hollering when they have a LCE (life changing event) and can't feed their families. There are only 2 of us in my house and we have a very well stocked pantry which includes garden produce and store bought items. It took me a long time to build this and I have been thankful to have it during stressful life events. I can happily say now I only shop sales and yes there are weeks that I buy nothing from the stores. So you do you and what is best for your family and honestly ignore the negative nellies. They honestly have no clue and apparently have no desire to successfully prepare and protect their families.

You can never be to prepared! Most people don’t realize that their local stores maybe have 2-3 days worth of food. What happens if there is a flood or trucking issue that prevents the re-supply of the store? In my area we had a major flood to where my village was land locked for over a week. No getting “into town” for groceries. And we had no power for over a week. We got creative. Folks moved grills into a central location on main st. Food that needed used because of lack of refrigeration was cooked. Folks brought any thing that needed used up. Cops and fire dept went around to get folks to come eat and or share resources. We already saw trucking and supply chain crippled during the plague a few years ago. Never have I seen stores that were literally wiped clean of food. Even though I’m a prepper I vowed right then to have more supplies on hand. I easily have a year’s worth of housegood supplies - soap, laundry, cleaning etc. I have a good 6 months of pet supplies. And probably 6-9 months of food. And some long term food item basics. Folks don’t realize how much supplies and food a family of 9 can go thru plus all the farm animals. I’m all about buying items at the best price to stock my pantry/freezers then plan meals from my pantry/freezers. It’s the best way to beat inflation and save $. I say keep doing what you are doing. And make sure the nay-sayers know they are not welcome at my house when crap hits the fan and they weren’t prepared. 😳😃❤️

I enjoyed the video. I think it shows that every day, you can do something to make your situation stronger, even if you don't always get to the grocery store. I appreciate that you are telling people not to be fearful. We need to help each other keep their worry at bay. My local grocery store three doors down from my house is going to be shut down 5 weeks from now. Today, I sent in an order for some things from a warehouse sale they are having, which one of the staff brought over free of charge. (I gave him a tip, though.) Most of the items I bought were items I didn't manage to get in the fall, when I was doing a winter stock-up. Today, they were mostly large packets at about 50% off. Love to see your children's smiles, and hear your kitty purr, and your goat practice butting his head! Everyone is thriving there.

I love that you’re encouraging people to be self sufficient. That’s exactly my goal! I’m not sure I’ll be able to get there though since I’m in a catch 22 situation. I continue to pray about everything though 🙏 *This is CheapsKate by the way (on my work phone) 😉

My husband always tells people I have a “disease” of buying too much! Pantry is always stocked and I can live for many months with what I have! Well what I say is don t be knocking when you can’t get what u need and laughed at my pantry bc I’m over stocked full ! I certainly would help others but people prepare a small emergency food supply can non perishables etc

By using your tips, I don't need to go grocery shopping every week for full amount of groceries. In fact we shop only to refill "holes" in our groceries like milk or bread or a canned item since we are fairly stocked up.

Good video. I did not feel fear with cell phones down. But it was a good reminder that you can go to bed and things feel normal and wake up the next day and the situation has changed.

Even though everyone in our house has a cell phone, we still have a landline phone. People always laugh that we have it but we could still make calls when our cell phones went down.

Love this video and the feeling that comes from "not having to" go to the store, there's so much freedom - financial and otherwise - that come from self-sufficiency! I will go to Home Depot this weekend to see if we can find a Honey Crisp tree, thank you for the tip, those apples are our favorites, as well.

The encouraging words were so nice. I wish viewers were kinder. When people open their lives up to you it’s to encourage and teach, not to be criticized about. I wish you didn’t have to address rude people.

♥️♥️♥️I totally love your today video. It almost like you doing a pantry food challenge. Sadly so many people were thrown in panic mode with the outages. Im thankful that It didn’t bother me as I ended up reading and getting few extra things done. Janice, it so very ok to skip weekly sales/shoppingand have a change up. Besides I like and love your different video today!! May God Bless you and your family and have a wonderful weekend!! ♥️♥️

We had to wait a few days for my husbands medicines with the pharmacy issues. So thankful that we don't wait till the last minute on his meds. Don't worry about what others think, you do you. I go to the store once a week and buy the sales. We have a saying in our household "if it's not on sale we don't get it".

In all honesty, how can people say you don’t need that much? Do they have the same amount if kids? Do their kids eat the same amount as yours? Deals are deals. You get what you can, when you can and you have enough animals that will eat what might start going bad. Some people are just too busy trying to tell others how to live their lives. I didn’t even know there was a cell phone outage until I saw it on the news later that night. I guess it was an AT&T thing. Probably why I didn’t know. Your kids are just too adorable 💕💕💕

There is nothing wrong with being prepared. I live in a big city and about 15 years ago our power grid went down. We were without power, water, and cell phones for about three days. The grocery stores and gas stations were closed, this taught me to be prepared and have a little extra on hand at all times. I understand completely the message you were sending and actually this message ties into your grocery hauls perfectly. Both you and Shawn are teaching us to be prepared and that it doesn't take a lot of money to do it. THANK YOU!!!!!

Going from one household to three separate ones our stockpile is being divided and making it so none of the three households need to spend much time getting set up. So thankful to be able to do that. Now I have to learn to buy and plan for alot less people but I know if I see a sale I'll still be picking up for the others too. Old habits die hard lol.

I have been storing extra food for years. It is just being normal and for those who buy only what they want to use for the week, they are wasting money 😢 You do what you want to with your family. If it's 5 bags of oranges, then it's 5 bags of oranges. I have also taught my children to do the same. And we will all go through a tough time and we know that we will be able to feed our family .❤

I enjoyed seeing glimpses of your root cellar, pantry & the animals. You do a great job of buying the sales items getting the best price. Where I live in Washington state we only have 2 grocery stores(Walmart & Safeway) so I have the opportunity for great sales. However, a Dollar General built recently a store in a town 20 miles away & last week I went there to buy cereal. The price was $3.75 each box total would have $15 but I used digital coupons plus first time shopping promotional coupons that took $10 off makes my total $5 or $1.25 each box. The only problem is my hubby & MIL ate all 4 boxes of cereal in less than 1 week. We don’t usually buy cereal but grandkids from out of town are coming to visit soon.

Those were my thoughts when I looked at the sales this week! They want us to pay those higher prices! Not me! If it’s not on sale, I’m not buying. I make sure I have other backup in the cupboards and freezers if needed.

I live a couple of miles from the grocery store. I pop in for markdowns if I’m out and about on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. With that said, if I see a great buy either on random markdowns or a sale item, I stock up within my budget. I have a very well stocked pantry and could go for over a year without buying any groceries. I rotate through consistently. After 2020 and the looming threat of inflation, I’m not getting caught with my pants down. No way!
