Күн бұрынIn this lecture Dr. Blevins surveys Ozarks traditional music, concentrating on varieties of ballads from ancient British story songs brought to America by colonial immigrants to regional songs recounting events that took place in the Ozarks.
This course provides a multidisciplinary introduction to the study of the Ozarks region and its inhabitants, including Ozarks history and geography, regional folk culture and traditions, and current issues.

That "ancient sound," or I would call it a cadence, to Almeda Riddle's voice, and the slowness, I would guess came out of the traditional hollering. It sounds so much like the way I remember people hollering across the hills to one another.

Almeda Riddle is from Heber Springs or near by. She lived a couple blocks from where I live now. Listening to her me and my wife said it sound just like what you can hear today on Friday nights in warmer months at the Cleburne Co courthouse. They sit out front and play and sing. Not as many people as you find at Mt View at night but I don't live in Mt View.
