The guitarist is the late great Randy Rhoads. He’s one of the bests to ever play he was innovative, original and influenced me and tons of other guitarist. He died in a plane accident at the height of his popularity during a tour with Ozzy. He only played on two albums but change guitar forever.

Randy Rhoads was only 25. So young, so talented...
@jamesmccormick875
@jamesmccormick875 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikenastasi8927 Yes he played on those two albums but they were only released in Japan in 1977 & 78 and obscure to the vast majority of fans. They weren’t world wide success that were pushed by a record label like Blizzard of Oz and Diary of a Madman. It was those two albums that Randy changed guitar forever. I’m a giant Randy fan, he made me want to play and study classical guitar. The fact that his life was cut so short at 25 and he managed to leave such a legacy with just two major albums is astounding and speaks to how great he was. I can only imagine the legacy he would have, had if he lived.

@@jamesmccormick875 I didn't minimize his talent, influence or legacy and agree to what he had potential for. You had said 2 albums, I just merely pointed out the 2 Quiet Riot albums. They're part of his work and I do have them on cd. They're not difficult to get. Agreed that they're not as major as Blizzard & Diary. I also have a Quiet Riot cd The Randy Rhoads Years, and there's a song, I'm drawing a blank right now on the title right now, but there's some riffs he plays that he ended up using with Ozzy. I wish there was more from him. Anyway, at least we have what we have to enjoy by him. Definitely gone so young.

I'd be surprised if Ozzy ever wrote any songs, to be honest. Even in Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler wrote the majority of the lyrics. Mama I'm Comin Home, one of his biggest songs, was written by Lemmy from Motorhead.

Guitar is actually really easy after you get decent at it. The learning curve is like a steep wall and then you are on top smooth sailing. Its the complete opposite of piano - for piano its easy to start but gets more and more complex Ex. Its much harder to play extremely complex songs and convey feeling on piano than guitar. Eventually you become so familiar with the guitar and with all the tricks that you can just “say” whatever you want.

I think most metal guitar fans would put Randy Rhoads on their Mount Rushmore. He was hugely influential in the way he popularized classical theory and composition styles in metal, plus he was completely alone in his lane while he was alive. You could very well say that inspiration from his example and rivalry with his ghost drove the 80s shred craze. Gone way too soon, died at 25 joyriding in a plane. I think he only played on maybe four studio albums, two with Quiet Riot before they blew and the two huge comeback records for Ozzy, in the course of maybe 3-4 years.
