The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt is an American, single-engine fighter and fighter-attack aircraft, built in a low wing configuration with a classic tail. Considered one of the best American fighters of World War II. The flight of the prototype took place in 1941, and serial production continued in the years 1942-1945. The P-47 can be described as the workhorse of the US Air Force in both Europe and the Pacific. Although the 2000HP R-2800 Double Wasp engine, turbine and exhaust system made the plane very large and heavy, it was not a barrier to achieving great performance. The usefulness of the machine was so great that it was used both for bomber escorts and for bombing missions with the P-47 in the lead role. The P-47 class is evidenced by the sheer number of aircraft produced. There were 15660 of them, and as many as 12602 in the D specification, which is an absolute record when it comes to the number of fighters produced in one version. Another common version was the P-47N, with changed wings, larger fuel tanks, and a more powerful engine. It was used both as a fighter and an assault machine. Even after World War II, the Thunderbolt was one of the most popular American fighters until the early 1950s. Technical data (P-47D version): length: 11m, wingspan: 12.42m, height: 4.47m, maximum speed: 697km / h, rate of climb: 15.9m / s, maximum range: 2900km, practical ceiling: 13,100m, armament: fixed - 8 12.7mm M2 machine guns, suspended - up to 1100 kg of bombs or unguided missiles.

Hi Rafal very nice work as usual. Those colors are correct for a P-47M from the 56th Fighter Group 8th Air Force. Not many saw combat but they were the fastest operational Thunderbolts during the war and actually shot down several enemy jet fighters. It's assembly was eerily similar to my 1/32 Revell P-47D 😊

Hi Darren, thanks for watching. Your P-47 looks more "serious". The camo on my small 1:72 P-47 appears a bit cartoonish to me. But as you mentioned, this was one of the painting options, and I wanted to try it.

@@modelfun It's a unique paint scheme for sure but that makes it stand out from the crowd even more :)

Good News, Quickboost has a replacement Engine Cowling that there is 2 versions of it, one with the Cowl Flaps Open and another with them Closed. It looks better than the kit's Engine Cowling.

An excellent result on an overall good kit! I have the 04141, 04155, and 04185 versions. I have not built any of them yet. The only issue I see with them are the cowl flaps. Several of them have fallen off of each cowl on the 4141 and 4185 versions. I found most of them, but I see a bit of scratch building in my near future with the flaps. What is the benefit of adding the liquid cement to the putty? Nice work on the P-47 and the video. Very informative!

Hi @johnbeto7936. Seems like you like the P-47 :) I used to mix liquid cement with the putty to get more of a water consistency- this helps with applying, and limits the amount of sanding, if applied carefully :) However, I switched to the different method now, and I use putty without any mix, and remove the excess with tamiya thinner, just after that I use sanding paper. Thank you for watching and your comment. :)

Nice model! However I saw this kit also contains painting instructions for a more traditional looking grey and dark green camouflage.I think I'd go for that one.

Thanks for watching @Emdee5632 . Yeah, I know this blue may not be the most serious P-47 camuglage. ;) I choosed this one because this model in these colors was the first model I built. I wated to have direct comparison to see how I progressed.

Nice build! Although I don't get why you went great lengths to black base, polish and spray metal base, when almost all of it got covered up and you didn't even do chipping that much. I mean it's good exercise for sure, but that small amount of chipping could've been done with the sponge technique and still would've looked good.

Totally agree. One thing is that I wanted to practise the metal finish, another one is the concept of the final look that changed few times over the painting process :). Thank you for watching and valid comment. Cheers.
