P-51 Mustang RC Plane Build and Fly

I redesign this RC foam board P-51D Mustang from the original plans that I made for papermodel. I simplify the design for easier building. The main material is still 5mm depron or polyfoam foam board. In this project it's the first time I use 4 of these new techniques. They are DIY spinner, new clear canopy molding, laminating film for covering and DIY retractable landing gear. I'm quite satisfied with all the result, except the landing gear still needs more improvement but, it has lots of potential. Although it worked but still, I will improve it in future projects. This Mustang is fast, even with just 50% throttle, I was trying hard to not hit a tree when flying it. I should add flaps for slower landing, but the time for this project is limited so I'll leave it to you to improvise with this plans, good luck and have a good building time.

Another amazing build from a master craftsman . Every time I watch one of your builds its like meditation for me . I was just thinking while watching this you could add drop tanks as a post build detail but nevertheless a splendid aeroplane that's also a great flyer

You are a foamboard Superman!! I built something like a Super-cub from scratch with no plans. 60 inch wing (two full sheets) and it flies nicely with Flite test power pack b, but no curved surfaces like you make except for the top surface of the wing and that is only 2 bends to make a rough airfoil. Your retractable gear is most impressive too.

The Mustang is about the best first war bird for newer pilots because of how behaved they fly in the air. The Mustang is very predictable and doesn't have any bad tendacies with very low stall speeds and easily recoverable from tip stalls. I love the P51 design and they look cool as hell. You'd never guess that the Mustang is so easy to fly just by looking at it considering how difficult many war birds are to fly.

Only the best P51 pilots could have their tail painted red. The Red Tails, made up of mostly black pilots, their achievements as elite pilots among the P51s, are recognized and honored to this day at the American Aviation Museum. There is also a film called “The Red Tails” telling a little about this story, I recommend it to everyone! Thanks for publishing. And please, if possible, include Brazilian musical themes in your next videos. I really like your constructions.

Your designs are amazing,your concepts are amazing and you must be the best at making aircraft out of cheap materials, if you could just work a little tidier, put more effort into getting smoother shapes and transitions and spend more time and just a little bit more money on your finishing... if you could do that you would have world class products better than the best western foamboard types... but if you just want to build foryourself for fun and show us how its done this is awesome. I think your designs are so good they deserve the same high standard of finishing.

Instead of the 4 blade prop you can also mount 2 2 (APC!) blade props, if one blade breaks; you only have to replace half of the propeller (I have to test this on one plane myself). I never use spinners because you create more imbalance in the propulsion. If you use a spinner you have to be able to turn the prop spinner combination until you have the least vibration. Maybe it is also fun to make a spinning spinner by mounting it on 2 ball bearings on a long motor shaft.
