Footage of lobster fishing off the coast of Prince Edward Island. Shots include: fisherman hauling a lobster trap out of the water, removing the lobster, and storing it in a tank on his boat; going to the next trap and repeating the procedure; securing their claws; transporting the lobsters from the boat to workers waiting on shore; packing the lobsters on ice; repairing lines, netting and traps; loading supplies and equipment on boats and going back out to sea.

It’s definitely not been filmed on PEI as the landscape is not like PEI but the same types of boats and equipment was used throughout all of the Maritime provinces. It’s a great film that captures the life and work of fishermen from that era. It’s a real treasure for sure.

It’s a great video but it definitely wasn’t filmed on PEI. Maybe on The Bay of Fundy or somewhere in south eastern Nova Scotia. But the same type of boats and fishing equipment was used throughout the Maritime provinces.

The scene near the end where you can see all the grey rocks up on the land is definitely not Prince Edward Island.

This was probably made in the 50's, and is most likely Nova Scotia, NOT PEI !

My bet is Nova Scotia... possibly NFLD? The big grey rocks are a dead giveaway. The shore is all wrong.

today they use elastics to keep the lobsters from clawing the handlers I guess back then that is what it was done. keeps the lobster from opening the claw and clawing you or other lobsters.
