So you're saying Stone did not have a lacerated spleen, which is subject to strict verification from the league, and the VGK would also bench their captain while they're fighting for a playoff spot, in hopes they can sign other guys for a playoff run they're not guaranteed to earn? Makes sense. Your logic falls apart under this most minimal scrutiny.
