I was bullied really bad in middle school and high school… my mom bought me this CD, because she knew I really liked Pink, and thought it would be a good listen for me. She was right. That year, Pink played at the Rose Garden on my 12th birthday, and my mom got me front row tickets. My mom got her attention and told her it was my birthday, and she sung “happy birthday” to me. I’ll never forget that moment. I was so truly happy that my favorite artist actually did that for me. It made me a pink fan for life. Oh, and I got awesome bragging rights!! Thank you Pink! I love you and your music.

When I was a teenager, I felt like P!nk was one of the few people who understood
@katetempleton9669
@katetempleton9669 8 жыл бұрын
P!nk once said that when she was a teenager, music saved her life (or smth like that) but modern music can't do that. And I totally agree. When P!nk was younger, her music was about teenage problems which can be related to every teenager. Then she started singing about society, about love and relationships. And modern songs are just about big asses.
@angelsspirit154
@angelsspirit154 8 жыл бұрын
+Kate Templeton Not all of them, and P!nk's music is also modern. I think music speaks to people in different ways. But P!nk was very very important to me when I was growing up, alongside Fall Out Boy, Tokio Hotel and BFMV
@katetempleton9669
@katetempleton9669 8 жыл бұрын
Lemon Vermillion Well, I agree, not all of them. But the biggest part. P!nk helped me when I was having difficult times as a teenager. And so did Eminem, Evanescence, Linkin Park and some other. But I don't see any of modern singers helping kids to get through their problems.
@angelsspirit154

I kind of feel the same way as you. When Pink came out, when she exploded with get the party started, I didn't pay much attention. I liked other singers but I didn't follow her. That started to change in my teens and I became more and more of a fan of her until she became one of my favorite artists. She is simply SPECTACULAR!!! It's crazy that even if we didn't enjoy a song back in the day, when it was released, when we hear it now it takes you back to that time with such special feelings, that is, it's part of our life, you know? I disagree - she embraces LGTB+ community to get albums sold. Own person? She tried to be TLC member but because it didn't get well, she decided to be Britney Spears with this album. I think so many of us can relate to this song so much... everyone around us always seems successful and happy, with great jobs, relatioships, social life, etc., always sharing pictures of themselves on vacation or otherwise having fun on Facebook, and it feels like we're the only ones miserable. It's probably in large part an illusion, and the people who show off and try to give the impression that they have a great life are just as miserable deep down, but it's hard to convince yourself of that...

My 12 year old self felt so seen by this song when it came out in 2001. It was one of my favorites because I hated who and how I was for the longest time and really struggled with things everyone else seemed to be able to do well into adulthood. And now 20 years later I was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism. Everything makes so much sense now and I'm much happier and compassionate with myself now that I know I'm just wired differently and have fully embraced that.

No she didn't, the first album she recorded with Laface records was in the late 90's and their marketing company was promoting her singles near my music college in Boston. That's how I first heard of her with 'most girls & there you go'. Back then the record companies test the market for a while then release.

Backstage she's carrying a blade as she says she's her own worst enemy and just before she gets onstage she stabs it onto the stage door. Deep shit actually. I think its in reference to how she was able to let go of that adolescent pain and embrace who she really is and connect with a crowd of people at last, and she sees herself in them and they see themself in her. Beautiful

I can't say enough how important Pink was for my generation of girls in middle and high school. Not anyone else fault, but especially being a 12 year old, with significant body and self esteem issues, and just such a low self worth, feeling like something was wrong with me because my dad wasn't always present alot in my life and my mom worked as a ingle mom in a factory with very effluent kids. He always cares and there’s no one who doesn’t matter to him. If everyone was same then also everyone would have the same purpose on this world, and that will never lead to something good. So it’s absolutely necessary to be yourself and to be different and if someone does not see this he or she still seems to be immature, that’s the reason kids bully or get bullied.

I felt the same way at your age. It's rough. I don't have any advice that you've probably not heard already but much hugs!! Hang in there!!

Exactly. I shaved my head too and got a tattoo of a swastika on my neck. I just felt so free finally unleashing my inner skinhead and Nazi and then I burned down a black church to celebrate. It's so liberating, I highly recommend everybody does it.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized my mom was in so much pain from the music she’d play and dance to around the house

Everyone has felt this at one point or another. This song has helped me, personally, a lot and I'm glad it was made.

I can't believe that I identified myself with this song when I was 16, and now at 40 I still do. 😏

Same.. I recently got out of highschool and my face breaks out it's annoying and I hate myself. My mom can't wait until I turn 18 so she can kick me out, it's hard to cope so I try to be positive
