there are a few key differences between both ships. in this quick video I take you through new dining venues such as green and co and 6th St diner plus the new swim up pool area at the aft
the outside areas such as the Sky dome pool and the altitude sky walk and mini golf are also new additions. and wow! how about the difference between the grand atrium!

Very interesting to see the similarities and differences between Iona and Arvia. I particularly like look of the swim up bar on Arvia!

Thanks for watching! Arvia definitely feels much warmer than Iona in terms of the decor. I'm of course biased about the heavy influence of the Amber colours 😉

Great comparison video Steph! I loved Iona and hoping to feel the same about Arvia although we sailed well below capacity in March and I'm wondering how busy it will be. Hope you're having a wonderful Christmas cruise.

thanks for watching Angela - Arvia is quite fun think you'll like her - I definitely prefer the Olive Grove on Iona to Arvia but Arvia's Green & Co restaurant is a firm favourite.

Really interesting thanks. Basically the same ship but a few tweaks. The sports court and golf nets were never used so the high ropes and crazy golf is an improvement. The swim up bar will be a bit of a gimmick I think. The retractable roof will be nice with the screen but it won't fix the acoustics. Getting rid of opal and aqua to have new (I assume) extra pay restaurants is probably the right way to go. Mission control looks interesting but losing a cinema screen will be a problem because they were at a premium. There's certain other things that needed fixing first like doubling the size of Brodie's for a start. Nice though.

Thanks for watching! yes - the sports area is always an underused part of the outside deck space - for example the one on Britannia always seems to be empty. Some of the tweaks on Arvia are more subtle than others (for example no library in Andersons Bar and the Aerial artists now perform in the centre of the atrium rather than to the side - as on Iona, plus there's now a piano/performance space in the Atrium in the dead space outside the 710 Club). Re the cinema - One tip is that many of the films shown in the cinema were also in the cabin when we were on board.

Went on Iona in January after a long wait due to covid wanted to go on Iona before our cruise on Arvia 17 March. Iona was lovely and had some great shows was a very big ship and took some navigation but got there in the end. Arvia similar but skydome opened. Arvia had something extra and seemed a livelier ship and had sail aways something not seen on Iona but saying that I don't think I'll be in a rush to cruise on them. I prefer the open deck around the pool for games etc not scattered around the ship.

I think i like Arvia that little bit more. Britannia has a great open Lido Deck - have you sailed on her yet?

Yes pools are heated - but expect tepid rather than warm 😆 the hot tubs are much warmer of course

After all the hype I was disappointed with Iona. Whilst I loved the design of the atrium area, the rest of the ship seemed mediocre like there is something missing - it lacks any character. Arvia looks like they've tackled some of those issues.

Agree - and what was nice it that the aerial artists now perform in the centre of the atrium rather than to the side - as on Iona. Thanks for watching.

It might be the camera light as it was night time /dawn when I filmed most of it - the downside of filming on winter/shorter days
