I remember my 9th grade health teacher making us listen to this song at the end of the class. He was trying to reach us bcuz a lot of kids were getting suspended and expelled that year and that was a bad era for that particular high school roughly 80-100 kids were getting expelled at that time every year for like a 3-5 year period give or take and this song stuck with me. Thx Mr. Tysinger.

@The champs of Gaming We could if we abandon our human nature. But no we can't. We say we will or we say we do but in the end there are a few that do and the rest that do say they did they actually did. And when bullets or whatever starts to go out on some place human nature takes over. Or we could put all our money together and intelligence and come up with cures and what not. But we don't. And the winners of wars always change and twist the history of it to their liking. And the whole school system and government is broken. Cause of greed. Cause of human nature.

Honestly, I think the song does an excellent job of encapsulating how hard life is for youth. Even in a lot of the best of circumstances. They really deal with stuff I can't even imagine dealing with. And I hated my junior high years. They felt ugly. But nothing compared to this.

At age 41 this song really gets to me. When it came out I was 21 I thought it was cool jam but really didn't pay attention to the lyrics now that I'm older reflect on the past I realized that a lot of our youths back then really struggled with themselves...I have friends that battled depression, drugs, loneliness when they were young and never really recovered. This song reminds me of them and it really hits. Great song.

As someone who's 25, this song never lost any ounce of relevancy as I was growing up, I'd Imagine the kids nowadays can resonate with it too. And truly, as much as this song is great, the tragedy's the lyrics describe are saddening, it hasn't slowed down, but it's gotten worse with each school shooting, suicide rates among teenagers and those in their 20's have risen. So on, so forth. I worry for those younger than myself.

I never worried about school shootings and suicides when I was growing up. This song hit me hard when I first heard it in 2002. Then on April 16, 2007 I received a call from my son that he was running back to his apartment during a shooting incident at Virginia Tech that resulted in 32 deaths. My son would have been in the classroom where many students died if the shooter had waited until April 17 to start his rampage. This song reverberated in my mind the day of that incident. What has happened to make our youths so violent?

I’m 50 years young and my best friend committed suicide 3 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. Nobody had any idea that he felt the way he did and I was with him almost every day. It’s a very shitty thing to feel that way you just need to reach out to anybody that will listen. Life isn’t fair especially when you’re young just be kind to everyone, because just being nice and thoughtful to someone can work wonders for them.

All these years later it's still a masterpiece. This song speaks volumes about the last couple generations of kids man. This is the anthem for my generation man.. born in '93 and have seen so much shit, so much darkness and so much broken, so many great souls lost in despair. Much love to everyone reading this. Hope all is well. Stay up, stay blessed and #StayUgly

Maybe one day this song will stop being relevant but all these years later it still isn't which is just sad and pathetic

In 2022 people hear this as dated and maybe embarrassing. But. We are also like 20+ years into school shootings in the west being "normal" now.

This rock song of the '70s might be about going through a portal (a stairway or spiraling, long steps)to the place called Heaven where God and the saints and angels and prophets are. Yet, the meanies, the sinners went there first. And this lady, possibly Mary, mother of God, tried to pay the price to go there. And they wouldn't let her. So, the sinners broke the "Stairway to Heaven". She was very sad, very sad. But, there were others who witnessed it and discussed it quietly among themselves and did know what to do. So that is why the Earth happened as round So, the sinners repented and still are. So, the Christians. the songbird (a dove) and Jesus Christ loved His people and let them into Heaven. The bad guys have to make it up to the good people by giving them everything, everyone, every place they need and have. The bad guys have to suffer a long time until God says, "That's enough! The world is perfect! It is like it was in the beginning until forever! Without sin!"

Johnny boy always played the fool he broke all the rules so you would think he was cool he was never really one of the guys no matter how hard he tried often though of suicide it's kinda hard when you ain't got no friends he put his life to an end they might remember him then you cross the line and there's no turning back told the world how he felt with the sound of a gat
