Amusing how this was filmed on my last trip to Sydney and at the time of upload I am actually on a plane to Sydney. Wow.
Anyways, on a nice April afternoon, 5 of us headed down to Milsons Point to film the cruise ship "Pacific Adventure" departing under the harbour bridge. This ship is 109,000 gross tonnes, the biggest ship to have ever passed under the harbour bridge and probably the biggest to ever do so. There is only 3 metres clearance between boat and bridge during low tide which provided an interesting bit of footage. At around 24 seconds in, there is a loud horn blast. This is a tradition followed by many cruise ships that pass under the bridge and Pacific Adventure, being an Australian cruise ship, would never miss that ritual. The old P&O ships "Pacific Aria" and "Pacific Dawn" would also blast their horns when passing under the gateway bridge in Brisbane before they opened the new terminal.
Thanks to @aussiejohn5835, @AheadMatthewawsome, @BensSydneyFerryVideos & @coolsoap8 for the brilliant afternoon. Subscribe to them all! Specifically thanks to Ben for holding my phone while I took photos of this great ship with my camera. You can hear him getting rather sore as by this point, we'd been out for almost 11 hours (the ship departed at around 4:25pm, we had been out since 5:30am) and we were ready for some maccas, a caffeine hit and a little bit of sleep (which we would be refused as we were out the next morning just as early). Hopefully I will grab more content from Sydney next time!
