Idle Speed Problems P0507 caused by a vacuum leak
If you have a Chrysler or Jeep and have this trouble code and/or too high of an idle speed, then this video is for you.
For more information on this topic, I have written a “field manual” called Engine Performance Diagnostics which is available at www.scannerdanner.com as an eBook or paper book.
Want even more diagnostic training? Whether you are a DIY trying to fix your own car, someone looking to become an auto technician, or a current auto technician that wants to get more into diagnostics, subscribe to ScannerDanner Premium www.scannerdan... There is a 14 day free trial.
On ScannerDanner Premium I will bring you right into my classroom at Rosedale Technical College. You will find page for page lectures taken right from my book as well as exclusive classroom type case studies. What is so special about these classroom case studies? I pull live problem vehicles directly into my classroom and we troubleshoot them in real time, using and applying the theory and testing procedures we learn during the classroom lectures. There is no better on-line training of how to troubleshoot automotive electrical and electronics systems anywhere!

You know what I like best about your videos? That as you talk yourself through the repair, you don’t try to pretend you know everything(nobody does, right?). You don’t act like every repair is perfect and easy. In this case you found a vacuum leak. Simple. But the correct diagnosis requires a process, whether it is an easy or hard repair. Your videos demonstrate that, as well as the repair.

Nice work. A lot of shops these days are just swaping parts out based off trouble codes. Even the dealerships are doing this. Then they just charge the customer for all the unnecessary parts they installed to "diagnose" the problem.

Thank you for this video Paul. I have a question... Speed density engines doesn't misfire because of vaccum leaks? Because I'm kind of guessing that they do if the leak is a the injectors or intake manifold but then again I don't know if it will misfire or cause a rich condition because of the o2 sensor trying to compensate for the leak. I clear the code and the past couple days it will go into “Limp Mode” but when i plugged my code reader in their were no Current, History, or Pending codes or anything! I did a smoke test on the i take manifold and found nothing but some smoke came out of the little pin hole on the back of the EGR (idk if that’s normal).

I've never been too comfortable squirting water all over a running engine. Especially today's cramped engine bays where you can even find engine computers bolted right on top of intake manifolds. My preferred method to find vacuum leaks is the smoke machine. No doubts there. If there is a leak, the smoke will expose it.

ScannerDanner I have a 2015 Chevy Malibu w/241k and the only thing I did was scan the car I haven’t changed parts or taken things off. The car has always been serviced for mechanical issue by my local Chevy dealership. The last time I had a check engine light the dealership replaced the intake solenoid, the rocker arm solenoid, the oil control valve, and the camshaft cover. Now the check engine light came on and then went away so I decided to scan it myself and that (P0506) code is what I got.

OK, got a question...I have the same car, same fault code, etc...What is the fix for this?! That metal hose is what? Has anybody determined whether its the hose, o-ring or what that part actually is? Thanks

What's happens if you use soapy water instead? Will it causes short circuits or its too messy?
@DJDevon3
@DJDevon3 9 жыл бұрын
BIG Z Well you shouldn't spray it directly on electronics if you can help it. Soapy water is great because it will bubble but everyone can find a soda/water bottle just about anywhere you're at but perhaps not soap. ;)

+BIG Z Soapy water is for positive pressure leaks. This is a vacuum leak, you will never see it bubble on the inside.

Hi i have a problem with my 05 jeep liberty. It keeps revving while in in highspeed. The trans temp light keeps switching on also. What do i have to do to fix it
@metzmatu8409
@metzmatu8409 3 жыл бұрын
You solve this trans temp on at high speed? I had the same problem months ago (on my Toyota "A/T Temp" triggered at high speed +/- 80kmh). I drained and filled the trans fluid, still it does the same. After 500 km I did another trans fluid change (2nd drain & fill). No more A/T Temp light.

@@metzmatu8409 Well, it had something to do with my shift solenoid. Which was located under my tranmittion valve body.

@@metzmatu8409 i did replace it, except that i lost the little balls for the valve body. So when i installed everything back it was a total flop.
