Back with Paul (Squirrel) doing more Shared Cockpit in the Majestic Software Dash 8 Q400. We departed from Edinburgh (EGPH) bound for Cardiff (EGFF) however I forgot to remove the gear pins and the gear failed to retract. In this part, we return back to Edinburgh (EGPH) to land and remove the pins.

What is kind of scary when we're discussing the Dash 8 and landing gear failures is that SAS had THREE landing gear failures on their Dash 8's in 2007, within a month! And there was another incident with a failing landing gear recently, was it in Amsterdam?

In the dash if there is an arrow pointing up before an altitude it means that you need to be above that altitude when you pass the waypoint. Not that you are climbing. The missed approach procedure doesn't start until after the runway

11:35 sorry to be pedantic, the up arrow means it's at or above (2200) feet, not necessarily climbing to that altitude (2200). Soz!

Nice video, I enjoy it! Will watch soon the part 2. Just one remark (though I know you probably know this), engines shall not be immediately shut down (as it was done at 47.33), it needs around 45s-1min to cool and spool down.

You can actually remove the pins by going to props at Start feather mode and then opening the doors

The pressure setting, the vFRI and so on are not linked in the real world aircraft either at least as far as I remember reading it in the operating manuals.

I took the FlyBe Q400 from Edinburgh to Belfast City in real life, and the approach there is unbelievable! If you are willing to take suggestions for your next flight, may I suggest EGPH-EGAC?

How do you figure out the T/O trim setting in the Dash 8? In the 737 it says that on the T/O ref page of the fms.

It's a built in feature of the Dash 8 PRO Edition. You access it with the utility that comes with the aircraft. :D

The pins are on the outside of the plane, on the gear. So unless you manage to climb out and pull them, no you can't.
