These settings work best on my set up, one piece of advice I would say, is that because it works on my machine, does not mean it would work smoothly on yours. It all depends on your hardware. Similar hardware to mine will have similar results using the same add ons. What set up do you have?

As mentioned above 9900k @4.8 GHz and 2080 (not Ti, wrong note above, hence 8 GB VRAM), basically almost the best one can get today. But I still think that in heavy scenarios (airplane, airport, landclass) those settings needs to be lowered one notch without missing details (at least for my old eyes). In any case thank you for willingness to elaborate on that.

@@AdamJPestridge -- realistic Flight Simming as a learning experience has many barriers to entry. After $-SH0CK, the biggest hurdle is uncertainty about what's actually contained in each software package purchase. Then it's if that software's implementation will actually prove to be useful in real-world experience after it's been integrated with everything else running. *Many videos cover $ shock.* Not so many cover the rest, which can be slightly more daunting if only because bad hardware can be returned & refunded if it's purchase proved a mistake. Uncertainty about making software buys is worse as it often never gets a refund, and the suppliers appear willing to take programs optimized to deliver a good FS 2004 experience and repackage that with a P3D v4 patch tacked onto the front in 2019. AND Still, no refunds. *Uncertainty going into a deal is the biggest barrier to commerce.* Your videos help overcome the uncertainty barrier with better communication about what we will actually be purchasing.

Nice and well detailed. It would be great if you spend some time to share with us your thoughts and investigations about the world terrain settings, leaving all those sliders to the maximum even with my 2080 TI makes me feel uneasy, I've always run on 4.x with one or two lower notches and still never found a nice spot as I can't appreciate how they impact on my HW (btw 9900k with 2080 TI). However I subscribed your channel, I feel your approach to flightsim very close to mine, actually you deserve much more than 1500 subscription.

Do you notice, or know of a fix for the weird shadows appearing and disappearing as you pan the camera around the outside in spot view with cloud shadows ticked? I tend to keep that off for that reason only. I love the way they look but that bright to dark and back to bright scene kills the realism for me even more....

are you sure its not the clouds above you casting a shadow on your position?

@@AdamJPestridge positive... Happens even above the clouds in the right conditions. It's a hard line shadow, move a foot in left or right and it's not there, move back and it is.

Sam S oh like a line across the screen? Do you have Chaseplane installed? I think it’s an issue with that. Either need to reinstall it or untick a setting to fix it. Googling it will bring up the answer.

@21:11 - I see you have all of Megascenary Texas v.3 -- I would like a review of *MegaScenary Texas(X3)* as it's presumably a huge scenery file [guessing 150 Gb], and building a system to optimize an NVMe RAID array made to deliver all *TEXAS* would hopefully make loading scenery anywhere else a cakewalk. It's also the only specifically Texas product that I've seen on sale *(All of Texas: North, South & West if buy together for $99 I think on MemorialDay Sale).* Your viewers presumably will buy all the Orbix improvements anyways, so after buying all the ORBX improvements, does Texas Megascenary add much now days? Like, they can re-frame the mesh but ORBX global + North America already does that and adds new texture files to the regions! They can redo the imagery, but I'm worried all they do is copy Google Earth onto mesh. Which is already something I presumably could do with a little tinkering for free. So, it's like maybe there's value for $100, but maybe not. *So for the above reasons, I think a product review of your **_Mega-Scenary Texas_** experience could be of value in use to your Prepar3D pilots everywhere.*

Yes MSE Texas is big, 108ish Gig in size.... thats sounds like a good deal there, I think I paid £40 per section when I bought it...worth every penny.... let me know how you get on with Google Earth in P3D mate, Im interested in that, Ill do a review soon on the whole state and upload it..... Ive got loads to chat about the Lone Star State.....cheers

With new hardware standards coming fast for release Ryzen x3900 12-Core, and Intel maybe getting a new 10-core release around November: I'm trying to research new PCIe 4.0 optimized SSD's engineered to take full advantage of the double bandwidth of each PCIx lane compared with 3.0 Hopefully I can figure out what effect if any that could have on a RAID 0 array & my price options. But the first PCI 4.0 chipset doesn't hit markets for another 31days. I figure Megascenary might be a number of large-files which should be exactly the kind of data access that optimizes the ultra-high sequential read ability _(which I think is just under 8gb/sec _*_on paper_*_ for a single drive, but about 5gb achieved at a Computex demo)._ Right now, with little available data, I estimate about 5gb/sec for PCIe3.0 (Intel 9900k) and 8gb/sec for PCIe4.0 when reading the optimal large sequential data-sets.

@16:50 -- On --Scenario-- Scenery Data loading --- *NVMe?* One thing I'm hoping to try when I settle on a new system build (with a latest gen processor engineered to take advantage of the improved data-flow lanes designed in the latest processors if paired with high-end motherboard chipsets) is new NVMe drives. Imagine dual NVMe SSD's arranged into RAID 0. Large scenery files made directly available to CPU and RAM at PCIx4x8 rates _(without taking any of the x16 lanes between CPU & GPU)_ that were unimaginable to the Original FSX & P3D programmers, but were likely on the radar for Lockheed programmers before they even began working on P3D v4.5

a good way of getting performance currently is to sequentially split the MSE files over several hard drives, it improves the loading time in the sim and henceforth the performance of the frames by triple the amount when you do..... its so simple to do as well...

Frans van Groeningen members of the p3d forums have access to that information on their website. It’s freely available to anyone who has bought any p3d sim.
