It might not be Red's doing. Red mentions during the final fight that he "can't break the rules", implying that although he can use cheap tactics, he can't just end the game or stop someone from playing it. He, like all the game's inhabitants, is bound by the parameters set in its coding. We also don't know enough about the game's world to say how much power Red has over it. Does he control every little pixel or just certain parts? We don't know, and the story goes out of its way to avoid answering that question.

The mods don’t make a profit from that except for KZfaq ads which isn’t stealing money from Nintendo or hurting their image. This however can make some negative brand perception due to it being horror based and also I have have heard it might be possible to lose copyright or just have a lesser chance of winning a copyright strike if you let something slide without being official.

The reason why it's better than most creepypasta games is because most creepypasta games are really just "walking simulator scary edition" in disguise (*cough* sonic.exe game *cough*)

I believe that the encounter is based on time-passed or number-of-times-you-avoid-him, so it shouldn't matter too much either way, but it might make for a good panic button if you make a bad call and he gets too close... if you can even _use_ special attacks in that segment, which I don't know if you can.

Personally, I think having Melissa in the story was already kinda dumb. The ending is only worse because of it. The story has way, waay to many issues and if you read now trying to be less nostalgic about it its not really that great. I quite like the creepypasta nonetheless, but mostly because it had a lot of effort involved.

@@garmfilf2789 disagree, people forget that this is still a gaming creepypasta, you know, a horror story about a haunted game? It follows the haunted game formula the rest follow, “oh I liked x game it was a childhood favorite or always wanted to play it, I got a copy of it through a yard sale or a game trade or a flea market or something like that, noticeable but not really creepy stuff is off at first, missing characters weird text new level etc… then it becomes creepy, death and blood and all that stuff, the game ends up affecting the player in the real world in some way, the protagonist destroys or gets rid of the game and when they go to where they got it they can’t find out the origins of it” the only notable exceptions to this formula are BEN Drowned and MARIO, but both are ARGS that became accepted as creepypastas. Because NES Godzilla is a long pasta that actually had real effort put into it, it has time to slowly ease you into those story beats in a much better way, (World by world) with a much more believable acting protagonist to boot. If this was just a story about a weird mod, it wouldn’t exactly have the horror element pastas go for. Melissa serves one purpose in this story, and it’s to connect the Protagonist Zach and the Antagonist Red in a way that makes their conflict seem deeper than just “There’s a scary monster in my game that’s trying to kill me” sure it could have been executed better, but it by no means ruins the story like people act like it does. Guarantee you like I said if it was something different than his middle school girlfriend people wouldn’t have such a problem with it. And of course like I said, the sequel retcons the detractions people have with the story, and aside from the antagonist Warlock who I think Red outshines in every way, is a whole lot better. If you didn’t like the original, give it a chance, chapter 6 just came out.
