Hey guys, I'm no longer doing individual tech support to get people started on P99. I assure you all that as of Sept 2023 this method of installation still works.

Really appreciate this video! I too was getting those annoying mouse turn stutter lags, I found just moving all my p99 folders from an external D: HD to my C: resolved it nearly perfectly!

Yo! Thank you so much for this! Randomly out of nowhere I decided that I wanted to play old school EverQuest, I know about project 1999 for awhile but I just didn’t know how to set it up! On top of that my laptop that’s not even a gaming laptop is capable of playing it! I haven’t played EverQuest in probably around 20 years, I was a kid back then and I didn’t get very far. The farthest I got back in the day was a lvl 18 Iksar Necromancer, I guess it’s time to make up for it!

Thanks for the video. After launching the batch file I am taken to the login screen as shown however any mouse click takes me out of the login screen back to my PC. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem with this install; it works perfectly except the music. I've played with the .ini file and the in-game music/sound setting, but no dice. I'm on the Steam Deck if that makes a difference.

So you don't have to use a "\eqgame.exe patchme" shortcut to launch the game as you do with a Titanium install? You launch the game with the "Launch Titanium" batch file?

Question before I rejoin. Is corpse retrieval still a pain? Like all your gear is on your corpse? Also if you level up with quests are you way behind on skill? When I played an alt years ago if I levelled up turning in crushbone items my weapon and other skills were too bad to hit enemis at my level after quest turn ins.

Still works 3/28/24 - See below for my little trouble that I was able to figure out, might help some others. Very well put together instructions ElJefe. Can I assume these instructions are based on someone already owning Titanium? The downloads and installs all went exactly as you showed. I have the steam version of the game but I get an error message that windows cannot find eqgame. Any input would be appreciated. Also I am running windows 10 Well solved my own problem. For some reason you cant use search to find the launch file you just have to scroll and click it. Very weird but it worked and I am in the game!! Thanks again ElJefe!! So I found this by looking for links to install EQ on Linux. Does this mean to play on Linux you are restricted to only this Prj1999 server?? Also if this is 'classic' does this mean it will still let you level up and pursue the 'AA' abilities? Thanks.

I didn't get EQ lite. I downloaded the zip and it has the EQ disks 1-5

I can't connect to any server, when I try it jumps me back to login screen and says error 1017, try running back the patch notes or something like that, I un-installed and installed it many time like you showed on the video but no hope

Trying to get this working but unfortunately having issues. I can get to the character creation screen. Only I cant see the characters. I can click through all the races and classes and the background and info changes to match. just don't actually see the character. Any help is appreciated. I'm installing on a brand new laptop as well. and have done all the system updates for the pc.

Got p99 installed in a p99 folder, and now i want to install the original Eq the live server and it wont let me, cant you have both on same drive? Maybe i should put p99 in programfilex86 and try again? i dont wanna mess up it was already a pain to install p99 when i did it lol Thx in advance!

ive never been able to download P99 it always says "window cannot find eqgame".

hey im having an issue on my laptop! It wont bring up the options menu when i press Alt + o and im stuck in this darn mini screen. I cant find help anywhere. Any idea how i can fix this? i know in the past i had this issue and i used the "updated Ui" and clicked on the EQ ui button that let me open the options from there. Classic doesnt have that button and the shortcut doesnt work for me

To log in to EQ on the homepage, are you using the same user name /password account you created for the P1999 account? it's telling me i'm using an invalid password.

My player keeps dieing everytime i try to attack a monster that's my level is there a way to fix that

I installed it runs everything fine with the velious UI i have meditate button. When i switch to default it tells me xml files are missing and I have no meditate option

I did all this before finding your video and it was some of the most convoluted bullshit processes and I've installed elder scrolls mods

...Hang on, am I not supposed to just extract both the P99 install and the Patch Files, because I see no BAT file and trying to run the game from the EXE asks to...run the game. Edit: I think I'm just gonna follow the guide *to the letter* and not unzip stuff to skip ahead.

I followed the instructions, but after installing everything, when I try to lauch the game with the BATCH file, I kept on getting an error msg saying something like " windows can't find eqgame, please retype the name or something ", I am running windows 11. I was doing this on a brand new laptop with no EQ previously install at all. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong? Thank you very much.
