The low entry barrier of programming is the main reason why wages will drop even more. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to get into programming nowadays, because there will be a surplus of programmers. not in 5 or even 10. This will hit ten years from now. And that might be the reason that many software engineers are moving to other areas. This thing is already doomed.

@imt low entry doesn’t necessarily lead to wage drops. Programming has always been there and available to anyone. But the wage has constantly been going up not the other way around even beating inflation. Why? Simply put, knowing programming doesn’t necessarily mean anyone's a good hire.

@@monkeyycoollay32 I would say about 5%. I know a coworker who majored in English Literature and later became a Software Engineer without a CS degree. But most non-degree coworkers come from a coding bootcamp background.

Yes, bootcamps are worth it given u do ur research and put ur best efforts in. I’ve seen a lot of people in their 40s join microsoft as entry-level engineers from bootcamps. Surely, u can do it too :)

I wouldnt say it’s impossible but self-studying is definitely the hardest way. U r on the right track. After finishing the JS fundamentals, I’d say move on to learning node and react if u r in the US. React is the most popular and most in demand in the market

There's no real answer to that except for just send in as many applications as possible. I wouldn't say it's impossible to get a job as a SWE by self-studying only as I've seen people who's done that, but I'd also have to admit that it's the hardest route.

I think I devoted my after-work hours for about a month including a few weekends. This is while I'm working as a full-time Software Engineer. But the procedure I've followed is the same as described in the video. I followed KZfaq videos + online resources.

Python’s also popular in web. Django and flask are widely used web frameworks. It’s also considered one of the best languages to leetcode with :p

@@PIRATEKINGDOM i meana " website" is usually for public use when u want to provide a service or product or share or show everyone and anyone something u created. For personal financial info you can build and keep something on ur laptop and keep it encrypted or maybe integrate it on some sort of free cloud version of an erp if travelling alot and want to access it from anywhere virtually.

@@ibraheemali9541 it’s exactly latter why i decided to make it into a website so that i can access it from everywhere. If you “keep it” in ur laptop or pc, u’d need to have the source code wherever u go. But what if u change the laptop or access it from my phone? Having a website removes all the hassle. Besides, like u said, a website is “usually” for public use but it doesnt mean it “has to be” :p

I would recommend against it. C's not the easiest thus the best language to learn for beginners especially due to pointers.

You’d need competitive programming (leetcoding) to pass the interviews, but would need a good work history or background to get an interview in the first place and that can be done with mobile/web programming

@@PIRATEKINGDOM Thanks. In India, if you wanna get into FAANGs, you would need to have the clear the initial OA rounds which are like the typical codeforces questions from Div2B and sometimes Div2.C. which are very different from the LC type questions.

Language shouldn’t matter much in learning dsa and algorithm. I suggest looking into freeCodeCamp.org or TraversyMedia or any other youtube videos for any classes of those in python.

You don't absolutely need a degree nor a bootcamp certificate to get a job as a SWE in the industry; however, they do help. If you've learned how to code by yourself but are not confident for a real industry job, then I highly suggest that you do get more education or do some more studies on your own. On the other hand, if you are confident that you can accomplish virtually any or most of the work a client asks you to do from your own studies, then as you probably have guessed, then give it a shot. Having said that, you do need to do some research on how google developers, api things work if you want to work professionally in the industry. Don't be afraid to release your idea or app though; it doesn't cost you anything. Give it a shot, learn from the process, and see whether you are ready for action. Hope this helps.

In general, I think bootcamps are worth it. I've seen a lot of SWEs even in FAANG who came straight from Bootcamp. However, u have to read carefully about the job guarantees. Their definition of a job guarantee is a job that pays you over $x dollars whether you are satisfied with the salary or the quality of the job or not. To them, as long as u get a job, even a shitty one, they'll count it as a job guarantee fulfilled. Make sure to read their contracts well if you are thinking of going this route. Also, imho, don't pay more than 20k for a bootcamp. Do your research and u'll be able to find good quality SWE bootcamps that offer job guarantees for less than that. Good luck

It's not uncommon to find university computer science students walk into their first programming class without any knowledge of it. In fact, I was one of them (although my major's electrical & computer engineering)! But it still does help if you do know it in advance. Speaking of which, do go to university, but you can get the basics started from KZfaq as I've mentioned.

For beginners just go with nosql

Python. I wouldn't recommend learning C++ at all unless your goal is to become a game developer or an operating system architect.

@@gtizzle101 i was referring to my personal project which doesnt really have an important financial transaction but rather keep a snapshot history of it. U r right. For real-life scenario, acid compliant db is the way to go

you can also use cockroach DB which is distributed postgresql, that should help with scaling SQL databases

It's actually very different. I guess it has to be because in courses you'll develop your own project whereas in the industry, you'll be required to work as a team. The sheer size of the project you are working on is incomparable, so you'll need to know how to work and collaborate on a single project as a team. Also, projects done over courses are usually simplified to help you focus and concentrate on the curriculum, the core data structure & algorithms, etc. whereas you'll need to handle all the details and requirements of security, privacy, compliance, legal stuff, etc. at industry level. The point of this video is build up the core muscle so that you are ready to tackle those challenges in the industry.
