I’m so happy I watched this! I just submitted my applications on CASPA for the next cycle and I am SO HAPPY! I feel a sense of urgency to prepare for interviews. This video really helped me get an understanding of what I could expect moving forward and how to stay calm and collected during the process. Thank you thank you! God is always touching on our hearts. As a viewer I appreciate you to help the upcoming PAs.

Found your channel recently and I am getting ready to apply this coming cycle to caspa for a 2022 start date. I like to try to roughly plan ahead and have been this whole time getting ready for applying for pay school. It has been extremely insightful to see your content, so thanks so much! Currently working on my personal statement.

I enjoy your videos very much and thank you for all the heads up. I came across a few tough questions while filling out my CASPA and was wondering if you can summarize these questions in a video: 1. "describe how you fit into the (school name) PA program" 2. "how your academic preparation will make you successful in our PA program" 3. "What motivated you to apply to (school name) PA program" and 4. "tell us about your personal and clinical experience and how that makes you a good candidate for (school name) PA program. These were not easy to tackle and it sort of made me want to skip this school because it was hard to answer, but I managed and I hope it was good enough of an answer.

Great content! I’m interviewing this Friday and I will be using many of the tips you mentioned. Definitely thinking about the “what is your weakness” question though... don’t want to mess this up! Anyway, thank you for posting this video 🥰

I’m going from being a respiratory therapist graduating magma cum laude with 4.5 years experience to getting my bachelors in health science and getting LORs from critical care doctor I worked with, respiratory dean, and supervisor from my old job. I’m hoping that will look good just in case I bomb a few courses. I have till spring 2022 to finish with one extra prerequisite I need to apply. I only have one choice of school so my chances are slim

Asking for my daughter who will be applying to PA School this year. How many schools did you apply to and how many interviews did you get

Regardless of the profession, there is a universal truth: who gets the job may not be the one who can best do the job, but the one who can best do the interview for the job. Sad but true. I suspect this is true of this type of interview.

A PA program may get 2,000 - 3,000 applicants. They then extend an interview to a couple hundred people for, say, 50 seats. Some have more seats and others have less. Some applicants offered a spot may choose a different school. But the vast majority of applicants are never able to show up to talk about themselves. Many are qualified but the interview is a way to show that off.

For the "why PA" question, would you recommend telling your story in chronological order as to how you decided upon PA? I've seen recommendations to do this but I don't want my answer to be too long winded. Is there a time limit I should give myself when answering this question? I could give a concise answer and then give a bit of background I guess.
@JohnThePA
@JohnThePA 2 жыл бұрын
I would do it chronologically but length of response doesn't really equate to convincing them you REALLY want to do this. Keep it more concise, they will likely have more questions. Some only book like 5-10 minutes to talk to you while others are more around 15-20 minutes.

Would you say visible tattoos make an effect during an interview?? Or tattoos in general?
@JohnThePA
@JohnThePA 2 жыл бұрын
You won't have much trouble with tattoos in healthcare unless it's something vulgar or distasteful. Ideally you want something you can cover up if needed. Tats on the face, neck or hands will be difficult to conceal and may not make a great first impression depending on where you are located. But you may also encounter someone interviewing you who loves tats or has a few of their own.

Keep up the good work john great videos as always. I just wanted to ask you a question my college does not have a Pa program so after i finish my bachelor degree in biology can I join a Pa program in another college without having to repeat any courses.
@JohnThePA
@JohnThePA 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! While some 3+2 programs exist or pre-pa programs with immediate admissions into a school's PA class - not many people go to the same school for both their undergrad and their PA program. Take myself as an example - I went to Penn State for undergrad but I did not apply for the PSU PA program.

If I’m an early college student who will graduate with associates degree and wants to attend a 3+2 pre-pa program, does this mean it will only take me 3 years to complete the program? Pls respond 😭
@JohnThePA
@JohnThePA 3 жыл бұрын
I believe you would have to completed the full 5 years of a 3+2 program. The alternative is you turn your Associates degree into a Bachelors and then earn your master's in PA school which would result in 4 additional years at a minimum.
