Brother, The Nilgiris was never culturally linked to any other place in South India or North India. The first official report is that of the British. All places, towns, villages are named after the Badaga Language. The lifestyle, food habits, attire and rituals of the Badagas is totally distinct from Kannadigas, Tamilians, Malayalese. Todas, Kotas, Kurumbas and Badagas communicated using Badaga as the link language. The name of the link language itself was given by the European discoverers and would have been planted in the European minds by the Kannadiga, Tamil or Malayali guides escorting them through the thickly forested Nilgiris District. Nowhere in Sangam literature is there mention of Nilgiris District or its inhabitants. Similarly there is no monument or inscription to record the History of the Nilgiris. The first language script to record about the Nilgiris District and its people is the European script. The Europeans and the British have officially recorded that Nilgiris is a Dark country akin to the history of Africa, where there is no recorded history. The British and the later Regimes which followed and ruled The Nilgiris found it convenient to call the so called Badagas as 'Badagad', 'Burghers', so that they could easily grab the lands of the Badagas who owned the Nilgiris. The Nilgiris had its own socio-economic system, and the Badagas were the agrarian community providing food to the Todas, Kotas and Kurumbas. The Todas were the Postoral community, the Kotas were the musicians and artisans whilst the Kurimbas were the socerery known clan. There was existence of Bartery system between these communities. The Badagas were dominant and respected ad it was they who owned the land, tilled it, grew crops and provided food to the other communities. FOOD brother, without which none can exist. None of these communities had a script of their own inorder to record their History. Names of places are the proof of Badaga indegeneousness and ownership of majority of lands another proof. The European in their very first official documents have stated that Nilgiris was a place where no battles or wars were historically recorded as there were minimum evidences to record. In such a scenario how do you explain the land holdings of the Badagas. The migration theory was made up just to fool the Badagas to grab their lands. Badaga people are endangered as they have lost their lands and livelihood due to the social and economic engineering by different regimes of Tamil Nadu. This engineering is Officially called as GENOCIDE. First it was Economic Genocide, next cultural Genocide. Genocide planners planned to cut the main income of the Badaga Community, i.e Income from Tea cultivation and vegetable cultivation, next plan to provide no quality medical facilities in the Nilgiris, next planning ensure all Badagas in the business of running Hotels and restaurants in Nilgiris faced harassment and economic loss, next ensure no proper higher education institutions in the Nilgiris - a district headquarters, whilst Kodakannal a Thaluk HQ has its own University. Then plan that all industries run by Central Government employing Badagas are closed down due to corruption by non native people. Next plan ensure all schools run by Badagas are made to shut down. Next ensure no Badaga is Given public sector gas agency or petrol bunk agency, next ensure no Badaga is employed in Government, Judiciary, or IAS, IPS. As a result of this planning Badagas had to migrate to other places for medical emergency, higher education, employment. Cost of living is high outside homeland, so they borrowed money from banks, moneylenders and Dravidian mafia and were forced to sell their lands, get distanced from their community and slowly loose their identity. Plan is partially successful, Badagas face anhilation for being good, honest and kind. Who is to blame for this Silent Genocide?
