Fired my first ^10r today. Got the cone down. :) I'm curious though on what is an unsafe speed for cooling? After an hour with the gas off and the burner port and damper covered it dropped 500f. Think that's to fast?

After the cone has dropped I let the kiln fast cool for an hour or more before finally placing a brick over the chimney flue and going to bed. I doubt anything adverse would happen if i didn't place the brick over mind you !

@@sleachpots pulled the stuff and it mostly looks fine. Had one piece have a side pop off the body, which was weird since it was bisqued already. I think I need to slow the firing down though. Top cone was flat and the bottom one was about halfway down w/ ^9 touching. Discovered the lid has a gap at the handle area as well. Did the Kaolin wool work well on your older kiln build for it's lid gap?
