Me personally, I'd like to have a reborn because I have nesting/mothering tendencies when I'm anxious and stressed and I'd like to carry them around to calm myself down. But some people just like to collect them, yknow. As art pieces. Not everything is deep.

Lots of reasons. Dementia patients love them, gives them a new purpose. For grieving parents, my therapist actually recommended I get one to help with my laundry list illness’s lol. Some like to make and collect them as art and not so much as baby dolls. They have some that are themed like werewolves and Frankenstein, but mostly they were used for tv and movies in place of real infants like in 911 shows and stuff.

I know this sounds really silly, but its something I thought of randomly and had started wondering about.

A lot of people buy these, especially grieving parents OR people who are infertile and can't pay for a surrogate or afford to get the long treatments for IVF. It's symbolic for a lot of people and can heal a part of them that grieves for a child that has been lost or has never been there at all.

Obviously nothing can replace those babies, but I imagine having something like this is really helpful, so that you know you at least have something.

Toddlers, I have cared for plenty and I was a nanny and babysitter for older kids for years but by dint of fate, I've just not been around many babies. So mine is honestly for practice, holding and dressing and generally making me feel better when I stress about potential futures without having a baby of my own, since I'd quite like that but refuse to solo parent because my mum had a time of it and I'm not in a relationship rn. She freaks my best mate out though, he's not a fan of dolls and the more realistic, the worse. So she stays in my room when he comes round 😂

I grew up in the mormon church where there were always lots of young couples, and with that, lots of babies to hold. Getting to hold babies was one of the only good things about growing up in that environment lol

The answer to your question, for me, at least, is that I simply LOVE DOLLS! I have, ever since I was a toddler. I am also fascinated with antique French bisque dolls. But the French antiques are worth THOUSANDS of dollars. I can't afford such luxuries. Then, I also discovered reborns and I love them for their realism and amazing artistry! They're also expensive, but a LOT more affordable than the elegant antique French bisque dolls. I just love dolls.❤❤❤. That's MY why.

😊I am back again! What do I use my reborns for? Well, I enjoy dressing them to the nines, and then I enjoy posing them and photographing them. Every once in a while, I enjoy swaddling one on a blanket for a good cuddle, especially when I feel sad or stressed! It really helps.

It’s easier and more convenient. The nappy keeps the face safe from being ruined or damaged. It keeps the cloth underneath there as well.

I personally have mine in a glass cabinet and change them very rarely (once or twice a year). But I do have some that I hold more often, especially if I'm sad or watching a horror film! Basically everything I do with them, I film :) other people might do different things with their reborns, like roleplay, and that's fine too, but the more you handle them, the more damage they sustain usually.

My reborns cost anywhere from £150-800 depending on the doll. Rooted babies are usually more expensive, and cuddle babies (where the head is vinyl but the body is cloth) tend to be cheaper. This one I sold for £600+post
