I'm just getting into both of your channels and I'm impressed with all the info you pack into each video. The plants you're featuring here all happen to be plants that caught my attention this week in Rhode Island so this was extra help for identification. I've read that there's a 250 acre area of old growth Red Maple along the Pawcatuck River Floodplain Forest. I'd really like to get a chance to see it but I have no idea how accessible it is or its location specifics.

Glad you found the information in this video helpful Ron. Always lots in bloom in still or slowly moving bodies of water this time of year. I was glad to find a section of river to explore despite huge rainfall deficits this year. I am unfamiliar with the location of the old growth Red Maple along the Pawcatuck but the publication 'Old Growth in the East' hinted that it was near the Great Swamp. The Pawcatuck officially begins at Worden Pond just south of the Great Swamp and flows northwest towards Kenyon Rhode Island at which point it's banks become less swampy and therefore easier to log. I suspect the locale could be between Worden's Pond and Kenyon but paddling that stretch is reportedly difficult due to beaver dams and deadfalls. Red Maples grow fast so their diameter alone may not be enough to make a determination of the age of the forest. Old growth forests are common in the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains of New York. I recorded at such a location last summer for 'Barkin' up the right tree'.
