We traveled to the Allegheny National Forest to spend the weekend paddleboarding and hiking around the Allegheny Reservoir. One of the largest bodies of water in Pennsylvania.
This is a beautiful lake with little development around it so you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. A perfect weekend getaway.

Always enjoy your videos! I appreciate the details of the campgrounds etc. you provide. We kayak camp here in PA primarily so good to learn new areas.

Wow, I really appreciate you saying that! We love kayak camping and love watching videos of other people's paddle videos, but it's hard to find videos for PA waterways with lots of info about camping or put ins. So that made me buy a go pro so I could make videos that had more information

Yo I'm doing an end 2 end of the Allegheny River via inflatable kayak. You should join. My day one is a marathon from the headwaters. You can meet me at the put-in in roulette

I'm considering taking my kayak out there this summer. What's the deal with food at the campsites? I see videos where people just have coolers lying around but I know there are bears in that area. Any concerns with overnight visitors?

There's always concern for overnight visitors when camping. You can't control what other campers do, just be smart and hang a bear bag with your food and have nothing with scent in your tent. If you know there's bears at that Morrison campground you can always stay at the Kiasutha Campground, site 33 looked nice and by the water, at the bottom of the reservoir next to Kiasutha Boat Launch. You can stay in that campground and then drive up to Dewdrop Boat Launch, Elijah Boat Launch, or the Kinzua Wolf Run Marina and explore different areas of the reservoir during the day.

@peaks.and.paddles I just know there are bears all through the reservoir area in general. I would assume hanging food would be what everyone does, but then I see videos where people just have big coolers that they obviously leave out. Just wondered what your experience was. Thanks!
