I don't disagree about he is a great trainer, but I think this is a big mistake, he is sending no horses to 1000 guineas by the sound of it, which is I would suggest more a statement of a belief in Irish racing more than doing what's best for the horses. Which is a noble gesture, but simple.fact is all the established Irish top class trainers are.no where near giving up on English classics, so a wasted gesture until they all do it as a group, that could seriously impact the English classics, but just one trainer doing it, unless that trainer was O'Brien will make no difference.

I think he’s just looking out for the horses. If the spring weather had been dryer it might be a different story. But he can’t get the horses out on anything other than a swamp in April, whether racing or working, so if he needs the extra 4 weeks for the sake of the horse, what’s the issue. The guineas are not the only classics and there are other top group 1 races in England or France he may target after Irish guineas.

@JasonKinsella-jv6bt the truly great.names in history win the English classics and the Arc, nothing else puts them in that bracket, One Look has already raced in heavy in Ireland, the courses England now are.running good ground some good to firm. So that argument doesn't hold water. It shows a lack of confidence.

After One Look's disappointing run at Leopardstown I doubt she'll win any G1 race.

That’s based on tradition though. English racing is in a right state (thanks for nothing BHA), whereas Irish racing is looking pretty good. I think it’s time for Ireland to take over where England keeps failing. With exceptions I’m so tired of being ripped off in England while the prize money falls and stupid policies ruin the integrity. Why no reserves for the grand national? Why so many meetings with small fields? As a punter I find Irish racing exciting. The big events are what they are ok, but history will change if the Irish start saying, “Come here” more, instead of saying “We’ll be there”, as usual.

Were you not listening? The trainer has basically told you she is not ready for that test yet. If he thought she was ready she’d be going to Newmarket. Be in no doubt about that.

Been honest with you the classics have faded in importance. If you can win a group 1 later in season will most likely be of much more importance these days as will add value and higher rating onto the horse. So many top class races in autumn nowadays worldwide that are of more importance.

@DelKshares as long as O'brien still targets the 1000 guineas, 2000 guineas, Derby and Oaks in England that will never happen, a trainer like this is making a noble gesture, but in the end will just mean One Look does not become the world beater she already is.
