The same is accused of invading armies from the north. If he was as you say one of the best warriors, then I guess she knew her husband would die and was ready to die instead of living as a slave under Khilji. And did so in a johar so as not to leave a body for him to find because he would've even abused the dead body.

It was not only for her husband but to preserve the purity and dignity of all the women.
