Reaction to the Padres getting swept by the Mets. Matt Waldron pitched well again on Friday but didn't get enough run support. Jackson Merrill homered for the fourth time in three games on Saturday but that was again the only run scored by the offense. Manny Machado was a big topic of discussion over the weekend after he resumed playing at third base despite not seeming to be healthy. A lot of fans aren't happy with him at the moment and it's understandable. Dylan Cease continued to give up homers on Sunday. We also have a Joe Musgrove update thanks to Kevin Acee.

It takes a special amount of copium to think this team will sweep the Phillies after they swept us at Petco Park. This is a team that got swept by the Rockies, Angels, and Mets. The series wins against the Braves and Dodgers was months ago. Mike Shit uses those wins earlier in the season to gaslight fans because he thinks we’re fools.

This team is a .500 ball club. They have shown that over almost the first half of the season. If you think they are better than what their record shows, you are probably high on just in complete denial.

Looking back at it..was Dylan Cease really worth it. He was acquired to be the stud ace. He’s got an era of 4 isn’t doing jack snd in his last 6 starts he’s been lit up. I’m pretty disappointed in what he has become. Manny needs to go on IL for awhile. Kim is horrendous and our bullpen besides Bobby what do we really have??

Unless there is some huge personnel movement on this team I don't think it matters who the manager is, the result is going to be the same.

Well, this isn't a BAD team but it isn't a GOOD team either. They are AVERAGE just AVERAGE. It would be best not to expect anything better than that from them for the rest of the season. THEY are going to have their highs and their lows because that's who they are. Their highs won't last very long and their lows last too long. Best not to get excited about either. So for me the question is, is this team worth trading away some future talent for one or two players for the big push? I would say, HELL NO, NOT THIS TEAM !! Not unless it's for some young proven talent in return that we have three or four years of contro,l, AT LEAST. The most AJ would trade for is another pitcher for the bullpen, another actual hitter, and a quality starter. Maybe he would go after all three but doubtful, probably only two of those. This team needs far more than two players to make it a competitive team consistently. Why waste the talent like is done EVERY SEASON, when whoever he gets isn't going to be enough. After the All-Star break bring up some of the young kids who are worthy, and let's see them play and make some kind of judgment for next season. Don't set another team up like the Nationals with two or three future All Stars, let's maybe see if we can keep a couple for us. Anyone who has been watching this team and sees it as more than a 500 ball club is out of their mind, even if they do make additions. ENOUGH ALREADY !!! Wake up Padre fans. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's time to say, WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR

@@jdsthird It's time for a big splash trade! Pete Alonso is in the last year of his contract. He's also represented by Scott Boras, AJ's best friend. The Mets are 32-37. We can trade for this expensive rental DH and all the fans will rejoice!

Chances are anyone listening to this is not a doctor. Even if you were a doctor you would have to have in-depth knowledge of what is going on with Joe Musgrove. With that said all I can say is if they've given him little chance of recovering on his own then he absolutely should have the surgery get it done and be ready to earn his paycheck next season. If you're not going to bitch about how Musgrove is handling his injury then you should keep your mouth shut about Manny also. It's possible Musgrove SHOULD have surgery and it's also possible Manny should be sitting or at the most just hitting in order for him to get better. Unfortunately we don't know crap about either one. I think you would have to be completely ignorant to be upset about Manny's pay and saying you're upset with him because he's not earning it. There is no correlation between how much someone is paid and how much production they have on the field. It's the chance you take when you sign an athlete to a long-term contract. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES. In a long-term contract or in any contract really, someone is being paid for what they have done in the past and what the team HOPES the player will do in the future. I just don't see how anyone can complain about a player not earning his high salary if he is actually doing everything he can to earn it and it's just not working out. Unfortunately for the Padres there are very few players currently earning the pay they are receiving but they will get paid anyway. It's not the real world folks, most of us would be fired by now and collecting unemployment while we search for a new job.

@@brando7266 nope didn't see it, like I said before I don't think it's the manager, it's the players. I think they are the wrong mix. Putting a roster together isn't as simple as signing a bunch of free agents and making some trades. They have to be the RIGHT free agents and the RIGHT trades. THAT is where AJ has failed. His forte is drafting, at least that's what they say. It is obviously NOT roster building. He has failed at that each and EVERY one of his 10 years here in San Diego. Doesn't have a clue on how to put a bench together. Doesn't understand a wit of how important depth is in starting pitching. As for the bullpen, that has been musical chairs for 10 years. Some of that is due to him and some of it is due to changing times in baseball. The roster has NEVER been strong or deep. He has just been the wrong man as GM of the Padres. He should have just stayed and scouting. After 10 years I don't even think this organization at the top has figured that out yet, I know a lot of fans haven't. If you haven't figured it out after 10 years, chances are you never will.
