Pagani Zonda R - Nurburgring lap

Pagani - Pirelli Tyre - Assuring new technologies and materials are fit for production means also putting the vehicle's components under severe stresses, exceeding those normally encountered in every day road driving.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most demanding track in the world, for man and machine, an ordeal that each Pagani has to pass, only one of many in the entire development phase.
The Zonda R serves as the ultimate test bench, a car able to reach acceleration figures and speeds that are not possible with a road car.
This is further underlined by a laptime of 6:47,5 min for the 20,832 km Nordschleife. Driver: Marc Basseng

6:55 stops the chronometer 7:03 reads the laptime. "WTF?" 7:08 reads the laptime again to be sure "OMG!" 7:10 "WOOOOOHH!"

I gotta say, he's a good driver. Yes I know there are parts where he could have done better on, but I do think that as a driver, your life is more important. Live another day to drive another day. Also, you can totally tell that it takes mad skills to control a car like that on this track.

What a ride! What hands! I like it at around 3:51 (lap time) when he counter-steers to keep grip. He must have felt his stomach on his mouth!

that is 5 stars my word! The Zonda R just eats up the metres when it's on straights or long high speed corners. Incredible grip and balance, it's going to take quite something to beat this cars record. Well Done Pagani truly deserved :)

Funny thing is the ring in rFactor is pretty much exactly the same, even down to bumps, dips, rises, types of berm. Watching this just felt like I was playing the game, even down to cornering speed feel. I guess it's a little easier to drive on computer though without the fear of horrific death coursing through your mind at every moment... Gotta love computer tech these days that it can simulate these things pretty well though. :)

God, that must have been absolutely exhiliarating. That machine is crazy quick. Damn, I'd give almost anything to be able to strap myself in the driver's seat of one of those any time I wanted. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of automobile craftsmanship I've ever seen, too. Also, everyone who's saying Marc could have done better because of this, that, and the other, just shut your mouth. You're not a professional supercar driver, you don't know the Nürburgring, and it's not Gran Turismo.
