This recording was converted from an old VHS, so not the best video quality.
Sad to say that the 24-etude set was not complete on the cassette. There were only Nos. 1-11., 13, 14, 17, 20 and 24.
Check out young master's incredible technique and the sound (especially for staccati, spiccati and ricochets), musically also intelligent. Recorded in 1981.

With my wife we used it as our wedding music played by live violinist when she stepped in the hall with her father. Amazing.

I love how graceful and elegantly he plays this. So many performers try to be very dramatic and create a hack-festival. This is very refined.

Shlomo Mintz is such an outstanding musician. His handling of this little etude is fresh & unique. The 14th is one that Perlman once dug his bow into while appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He made it look easy with his big, powerful hands. Musically speaking, however, I prefer this rendition. It does, in fact, resemble trumpets.

The multiple stopping on three and four strings is done not so much by string crossing as downward force from the bow combined with a firm bow stroke, which has the effect of flattening the curve formed by the stings over the bridge allowing them to sound simultaneously. We know that Paganini used quite a flat bridge for this reason.

If you listen carefuly, when the trumpets are showing up, the sound of the violin is like a group of trumpets playing for the arrival of the king, just imagine.

That was a description given by Itzhak Perlman. This is one of the caprices he loves playing as an encore. He once played it on The Tonight Show w/Johnny Carson. The 20th Caprice is supposed to have an imitation of bagpipes. The 18th hunting call of the horn. I may also be wrong about them too. I will leave it up to you to decide, Maestro.

that part of the piece is very reminiscent of the "hunting" horns. Very classical.
