Just a heads up, here in So. Cal. the Hydro stores ran out of Hydroton, only one place in a 50 mile radius has any, everyone else is on a back order, they said there are broken links in the delivery system, so if you are running low, stock as much as you can, people are home, bored, and growing like mad men (and women). Cheers.

I have commented on this befor but thank you for telling what size the hole saw is. 1 1/4 is really a tight fit but as you point out it can reem out. I used a 1 1/2 in on my flood table and it had gaps but not to bad as you do point out that you drain right into the res tank so it does not matter if you have a small drip on the bottom of the flood table. Next table will be drilled with 1 1/4ths for sure tho.

I have a diy system like this only rather than have the other siphon to fill the tub, I have tubing running from the pump out and over the top of the grow tub. So it's basically two tough totes, the sump being larger than the grow tub. I have the tubing to fill the tub running over the side so that I can use the same tubing to drain the sump when it's time to change out the fertilizer. So others know, when you use fertilizers, it needs to be changed out about once a week. Water does not hold natural minerals and supplements like soil so you have to add that in and it wanes over time. You cannot just add more because the plants don't like it. I'm also disabled so I had to have a better way to change out the water. Also, rather than the hydroton, I use aquarium gravel river stones. I find that it protects my plants roots better from those awful gnats. I tried having this hooked up to my fish tank for an aquaponics system and more nutrients. Don't do this unless you plan on buying more fertilizers that are safe for fish. I thought their waste alone would be fine. NOPE my plants were happy for awhile and then not so much. So, now I've separated it and I'm going to do this with fertilizers. The fish are alive and well just in case anyone is wondering. I would not hurt my fish. Another thing I've found is, do not try to just fill the whole grow tub with hydroton or gravel. If you are working on the flood and drain tubs, one of those pebbles could go down into your tube and it's a pain to have to keep picking them out. I had to take an aquarium airline and run it up the bottom end of the tube to push the pebble out. Just put your plants in containers with drain holes in the bottom. It makes it so much easier to do any sort of maintenance etc on the plants and you can just set it back. One more thing, I would order whatever you need for awhile now before shipping issues get worse. Happy growing and be safe.

quick question for you or anyone caring to answer (complete noob looking for answer) for a 3x3 tent, do you get a 3x3 flood and drain table setup or you absolutely need to do what you did in the video and put int a 2x2 flood table system? any help would help , thank you!!
@PAHydroponics
@PAHydroponics 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, alot of flood tables that say 3x3 are the inside dimension of the table but the lip around it adds a lot to the actual measurement. Some tent's account for it and are slightly oversized but Gorilla tent's and Hydrofarm tent's are exact measurements so a 3x3 table that is actually 3 foot 4- 1/2" wont fit. Hope this helps. try to look up outside dimensions on whatever flood table you are looking at. Gary

can I ask how you size your reservoir? I am considering growing 4 plants, I figured a 2X2 flood table and about a 10-15 gallon reservoir. I am having issue finding ideas on proper sizing of the components so the system is neither too big or too small to get the desired result. Any pointers? You have alot of helpful videos....thanx.
@PAHydroponics
@PAHydroponics 5 жыл бұрын
Hello, 2x2 I would do a 20 Gall, 10 gall wont flood it all the way to the top of the riser, if you used this for a drip system you could get away with a 10 gallon but for flood and drain you need to have enough water to flood it high enough, 3x3 needs a 40 gall 4x4 40 gall or bigger. Hope this helps!G

these setups are definitely the easiest but the issue with them is height. You really lose a lot of growth height especially with that bulky reflector up top.

What's the most yielding set up for a 5x5?
@PAHydroponics
@PAHydroponics 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there, that is a loaded question! You could veg and train 1 plant in there and kill it with yield but you would have to veg for months to get it like that so you have less harvests per year or you could do a few and get more harvests, so much determines yield besides the system itself, lighting, nutes, skill , it would be hard to decide, I do love the flood and drain because root rot is not a issue. Sorry I cant give a better answer on this. Thanks for watching! Gary
