ALso faster method for tires is log spillter...you can crush those rims in 10 sec..literally snaps...then yank tire. Log splitter will work for steelies too to yank rubber as well ...
@1320LUV5 жыл бұрын
I have a 26 ton splitter and have thought about trying it but never have. I like the rim crusher videos on youtube
@thdevilmancometh5 жыл бұрын
@@1320LUV On steels....you have bend them in 2 or 3 chunks. Rim looks like a triangle when done. Tire pops right off. On donut tires this works really well. On aluminum rims.....they just shatter. The commercial crusher for tires at the yard is a glorified log splitter with 2 extra wedges and rams. My old boss modified a log splitter with 2 extra rams and wedges. So it would crush in like a triangle ship. Or if you have a weitsman near you..they buy tires on rims...at one point it was 10c a lb for tires on rims. Now probaly 2-3c a piece. But thats even better cause you dont have to pay to get rid of the rubber. I wish I had videos but at one point with nothing more than 1/2 ton chevy and uhual trailer I moved over 40000 lbs of nothign but tires and rims. Made 5 grand in 2 weeks before expenses. My old boss lost his junkyard through foreclosure. Back then 10c lb for tires on rims. All done by hand...3-5 trips a day.....25 miles one way.... I pretty much killed that chevy doing it, but the truck was only 500 bucks./ SO it paid for itself lol.
