It's fairly common to experience discomfort or pain after root canal therapy: by knowing what to do, you can ease the discomfort and get better sooner.
How long does the pain last after a root canal?
• Generally, in a couple of weeks, the pain should disappear.
Why do I feel pain even after the root canal?
• Due to the inflamed tissues both for the dentist's operation and the tissues surrounding the root being inflamed.
Is normal to feel pain after a root canal?
• Yes it's normal to have some pain/discomfort for the next 1 to 2 weeks.

I've just had my first part of my root canal I'm having a endo And yes pain in the area the had the root canal part done on it. The pain it 100% normal

horrible pain after the anesthesia wore off!! All I got was Ibuprofen! I would not have done this if I had known how bad this was going to hurt!!

Omg i had this yesterday and the pain is so bad i feel it in my ear! I wish i just got it pulled. He said take 1000mg of Tylenol and 600mg oif ibuprofen all at once 4 times a day! Plus 500mg of amoxicillin. this dose only lasts 3 hrs at max. I cannot stand the pain any longer!

I just had a 4 root canals done in one tooth and I’m in pain😭 I tried eating bread on the opposite side and my tooth touched and it hurt!!

It has been 6 days since I have had the root canal. The pain is pretty bad. I had my upper right side molar done but feel the pain on the lower jaw and half of my head hurts. What should I do? I am on the process to getting a second opinion

@Etc Jr it took 5 days, a lot of weed and sinus pressure headache medicine but finally, the pain subsided. We'll see how the crown fittings go.

Dear Doctor.. I've undergone a root canal procedure 2 months ago removing 04 roots on the same tooth which i did 12 years ago there's no swelling of the Gums neither any deep throbbing Pains Surprisingly after all this period the Teeth is yet sensitive to cold water or even by touching it or while eating soft foods or even chewing gum and Brushing or by even slightly knocking it i can feel the Pain 🤔 We again took another x-ray there's been no any Germs reflection the inner part was fairly clean no cracks on the Tooth... What would be an interesting cause for all this ..?? Appreciate to give us your Guidance...

Just had a root canal. When the freezing wore off, I had a severe toothache for 3-4 hours. This has improved a bit, but the pain is still bad. Advil wasn't working so my dentist has prescribed ketorolac. This drug seems to reduce the pain. Fingers crossed for the days ahead

So? Did the pain go away? Because I just had my root canal a few hours ago and im experiencing severe pain. I just want to know when it will go away.

@@user-tg2nb5lx1w yes! It took about 48 hours for the pain to subside. I did not need pain killers after that. Tooth is still a bit sore when I bite but that is getting better daily

i had a rootcanal treatment almost 4 months ago next week is my appointment for the second treatment but yesterday i had toothpain in the molar that had treatment done. i called my dentist and when i got there the pain was almost gone but he openend it and cleaned it again en closed it back up. but today my molar is throbbing and i can't even bite or i wil scream. the molar is sensitive on the side where he did the drilling in the canals but the first treatment i got was not half as painfull as this one i don't know what to do i am taking painkillers but after 2 hours the throbbing again. I wil call my dentist again tomorrow if the pain still remains the same. I also have to say from every pain i have had in my life tooth pain is the worst one even worse then period cramps :(

I had rct 3dys back. That wasy 3rd sitting. My doc filled my tooth instead of cap to check how far it lasts. Since yesterday am getting pain while drinking cold water. Can i konw why does it cause and how to reduce it.

My RCT done but dentist was not satisfied with it he told me to extract as there is infection on one of the canal. He said further that the said canal has blockage because of filling lying in the canal. The dentist recommend to extract because I feel pain while eating.

Try to get the procedure repeated. Me and my wife needed 1 of ours retreating. I'm in pain with 1 I had done 3yrs ago but my Dentist just doesn't seem interested.

@@evanperry2957 later I got it checked at another doctor's clinic..he took an x ray and told me that RCT has been failed as the dentist left her canal cleaning equipment inside the tooth itself.. finally I had to go for extraction! I was having pain on tapping and giving pressure sometimes for a month!

If you received the root filling less than two weeks before, it's normal. The first days after a root filling will be annoying for chew, but it should get better day after day. If your discomfort doesn't get any better with time, call your dentist for a quick check to clarify every doubt! Cheers🙂

It is happening to me know the root canal is done in the bottom jaw and I feel pain in all the teeth from that side (upper and lower jaw)

You said that the pain from a root canal procedure should go away slowly from day to day but it’s different for me. My first and second day didn’t hurt at all but then my third day the teeth beside it started hurting and then the fourth and fifth day hurts like a bitch😭😭 It’s still aching to this very second. I’m hoping tomorrow it won’t hurt anymore because it’s literally making me cry💔💔

@@MiNombreEsEscanor Good luck, bud! Just in case, I think you should get yourself some painkillers :) Advil liquidgel works best. My tooth isn’t hurting anymore but my gums are swelling along with my cheek.

@@mikaelagomez3430 thank you, you too. 3rd day now, taking penicillin vk 500mg every 6 hours, constant pain started going away, still can't put pressure on the tooth, eating on the other side of the mouth.

I had a root canal done 5 days ago. It doesn’t hurt at all, no throbbing, not swelling. But when I tap it with something hard like the other side of my toothbrush I feel some slight pain. Is that normal?

I have had my RCT about 40 days back nd i still feel the pain when i chew something....i visited my doctor nd he said i hv pain in my 3 roots canal out of 4 but he advised dont worry it will be gone gradually.....i don't know hw long it will take to go the complete pain 😭

Had a root canal done 3 years ago and for the past month my tooth has been very sensitive, dull aching and all the muscles in my jaw are tight and tensed. Been on painkillers for it but my Dentist just doesn't seem bothered about investigating. Its breaking me down mentally so you have my sympathies. I hope your symptoms subside.
