There was so many reviews and posts about how screwed this guy’s QC was, even from the company itself. Why would someone willingly risk it after all that news?

I recommend the Cybertron/Galaxy Force version. Super fun to handle, and the proportions and articulation are still pretty good.

As a little kid I had the transformers Cybertron Optimus prime and I had no idea The matrix was important. So I took it out of the chest threw it behind me and couldn't find it for years

I was so excited for this guy. I grew up on an old box set of Cybertron, so I missed out on the toyline and didnt have a single Galaxy Convoy-esque toy. And this guy looked super cool. I eventually got him and loved everything about him, and then the fingers broke. When the first one broke I went, "meh," cause they had the replacement fingers in the bag. But then they continued to break. I have run out of replacements and he's now missing both of his pinkies. Pain.

Anyway, I just got up to the part about how delicate Prime's electronics are (with the entire exposed PCB having to come out just to change the battery -total noob move on their part) and as someone with electrical qualifications, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here. The level of static electricity required to completely fry the doping process in semi-conductors (the doping process is where you add impurities to a semi-conductor lije carbon or sillicon to make it slightly negative in some areas and slightly positive in other areas), is way below what you feel on a static electric shock. I'd recommend anyone who is going to be touching semiconductors invest in an anti-static wristband. For those not aware, the wristband is attached to a wire that you clip on to a metal surface, so that you're grounding yourself and discharging that static charge buildup in your body, through the metal object you've clipped the lead of the wristband to. It's a golden rule of electronics to never work with semiconductors you'll come into contact with directly, without wearing one. I never expected to have to bring that up regarding merely handling an action figure, but then I also never expected a manufacturer to be so stupid as to expose an entire PCB of semiconductors to unititiated hands, simply to change the batteries. Amazon sell them for around $5USD but your local hobby shop which sells electrical components, or your local computer shop, should carry them. If you're looking for them on places like Amazon, searching for "anti-static wristband" should bring them up. Hope my 2 cents here has helped someone out and maybe even potentially saved someone's amateir repair or hobby project.

Hopefully once Fans Hobby is done with Energon, they’ll make their own Galaxy Force Convoy which will be big and the best of the best and maybe they’ll do a Wingsaber to make the Optimus Sonic Wing Mode since they’re clearly making Armada Jetfire and Armada Overload for their Armada Optimus.

3:03 If the transformation ain't broke, don't fix. Besides the OG toy and the cartoon, that's how Cybertron Optimus should be. Atleast it wasn't riddled with overcomplicated armatures, struts and panels, this is a breath of fresh air from the oversaturation of G1 Optimus MPs (official and 3P).

It's pretty obvious the people making this didn't understand the intricacies of plastic types and grades. The only way this mold can be redeemed is to replace every single part's choice of plastic.

I have the original Cybertron toy but it was in pretty rough ass condition. I was considering getting this a year ago since this was my first ever introduction to transformers and Optimus prime but I instead decided to try to restore the original. Boy I made the right choice judging from this review lmao

I remember all the hype around the figure and felt super cautious. Mainly cause I did my research and found out their Jazz was also a QC nightmare. Lools like they're 2/2 on problems.

Man, the finger part hurt to watch. I had the Mobile Command Center as a kid and the plastic that was supposed to clip over the walls to add search lights and gun emplacements basically did that within the first couple times of playing with it, so it was like feeling that alllll over again.

Remember that episode where spongebob breaks his own fingers while cracking his knuckles? This figure is literally that.

the shoulder ratchets actually have tabs under the screws on the gear..but they are so fragile and tiny and the teeth of the ratchets are long so when you rotate them, the smoll fragile tabs just break on you.....broke on mine so what i did was shaved off a bit the ratchet teeth and tightened the screws...so they now rotate on the ratchet even without the flimsy tabs....though a bit easier to rotate but at least it is still ratcheted .

Cybertron is one of those few moments where the toys absolutely SLAP! I've yet to see a remake that even comes close to the originals.

Was considering hunting for this at TFcon but definitely reconsidering thanks to the QC issues

for its fragility and engineering issues, it honestly might've been better if it was like a model kit so you could tighten and loosen things before assembly as needed. Like yeah transformers usually isnt a model market but to get this thing where it needs to be you're putting in modeller work to make it function normally.

They were handed one of the coolest designs in transformers history on a silver platter, all they had to do was make him somewhat durable T_T

The extra fingers I don’t think were in the box. Distributors were supposed to send them with the figure. That might actually be on TFSafari, and the new fingers are allegedly better quality.

Regarding the key, Transform and Rollout didn’t actually make that one, which is why there isn’t a slot for it. It’s provided by the distributor, so it likely won’t come with people who preordered from TFSource or BBTS.

That is some super rough Q/C on a $150 toy/collectable. Hasbro hasn't had the best track record for Q/C but for the additional/rising costs they feel to have gotten a lot better in the last year or so. The original toy surprisingly has held up really well since release or has since It's sat on a shelf in combined mode unmoved for 10+ years now. Hasn't fallen anyway. The most recent iteration of the design was a cool change up but never felt to capture the epic scale/feel of the original whereas a Legacy Commander Class with love put into Armada Prime would be absolutely amazing to see.

Same thing happened to mine. It astounds me that a toy that was in production for almost half a decade ammounts to this. I'm willing to bet that the amount of die-cast was used to justify artifically inflating the price on this thing.

I remember my history with the toy was that when I got it, it was way back when the first deposits on Showz were available. It came up conveniently at 120 instead of 150 on my orders, so I sprung, and I specifically sprung much later because with early adoption on non-regulated toys (i.e. third party that hasn't had a good deal of history of releases), QC errors rears its head. Now, he sits in his box, unopened out of fear he'll crumble I wanna bring him out so badly, but if he breaks, I think my heart will break because I was hoping this was gonna be the toy to replace my need for Siege and to avoid Galaxy Force Optimus Scalpers. I don't think I'll ever really take him out of the box unless Transform and Rollout release fingers that are at the very least guaranteed to not break as badly as these, and maybe also a fix for the ratchet shoulder to make sure it can actually stand the test of time.

When I first saw the prototype and stock shots for this figure, I was STOKED. FINALLY, a third-party Cybertron figure! I placed my pre-order on BigBadToyStore months ago in the hopes of receiving it. However, seeing some of the reviews come out for it now, and all the Quality Control issues... ...You know how reality hits you like a truck sometimes? This was a bit more literal. I cancelled my pre-order after seeing all the QC issues... This figure performs the "roger rabbit" effect the masterpiece beast wars figures pulled off, but its QC flaws give it the fragility of fucking tissue paper. This is one of those figures you display in a glass case or put back in the box and never touch again. You dust it, you breathe on it, you even look at it wrong and BOOM! plastic meltdown. Anyone else getting Vietnam Flashbacks or is it just me? I think for the time being, until Transform and Rollout works out the QC issues, I'll save my money... or wait for the fated day the Maketoys "Galaxy Manus" concept finally gets a prototype. (I know Maketoys hasn't done anything in a while except for that Rioter Galvatron they're working on... but a guy can dream, can't he?)

I don't mind the simplistic transformation, because it's that simplicity that made the original such a great toy, and actually rather have it have thr same teansformation just like in the show. But all I wanted, *all I wanted* was a a version of the originak that looked and felt more premium/proportional to the cartoon. I have no idea how you manage to fail so hard at something like that when you have the same transformation. Like how did they mess up on QC so bad. One day I hope we get either an official or third party that does this idea justice

16:35 TR didn't make that cyber key. Apparently the cyber key is a preorder bonus from the distributor not affiliated with TR. The retailers will get it through their distributor. In other words it's just a gift from the retailers for ordering the Commander of the stars figure.

Well i didn't put his hands in water hot water precisely. Yeah some did break out the box too but i put a bunch of oil in it and that actually works too it saved the ones that didn't. I did like mod the shoulders to actually work nicely now. His thigh swivels were yes really tight took applied the same thing to the shoulder, works great. What i did was did light sanding the the part that doesn't rotate, i didn't sand the gear. I did glue it like they recommend works great now feels fantastic and still very TIGHT

Forget the shoulder ratchets, ask yourself why they thought it was necessary to put ratchets in the thigh rotation, a joint that will NEVER need to support any weight. Your best bet is to remove the ratchet ring and just make it a friction joint, and bonus you now have replacements for the shoulders. The toy should have come with replacement fingers, the brittle finger plastic was a known issue and T&RO chose to give people new fingers rather than recall the batch. I am hoping that they release new hands that have the first finger articulated and the rest of the fingers molded as a single part, or molded together with hinges. There is no reason for this toy (or most toys) to have fully articulated hands. Overall I like this figure, and considering that it is onlyT&RO's second figure in the eight-ish years they've been around, I kinda figured it would have some issues.

I remember having a variation of this as a kid (official toy I think) and it was fire. The again it may be nostalgia talking lol

Bummer...Somehow this reminded me of Galaxy Meteor from MakeToys. The thing had so much potential, but the build quality was utter trash. The upper leg joints would always break, the plastic was hollow and thin, and the calf spring mechanism although ingenious, was very faulty and would have eventually surrendered to time and use. My commander of stars is one the way and as hopeful as I am to getting a good copy, giving the number of QC issues, it's likely I will eventually encounter them. Our best bet now is to be patient and let the masters FansHobby take care of the Cybertron line. I hope they remake the Galaxy Force Starscream, Optimus, Wingsaber, Leobreaker, Megatron, and maybe Scourge.

I was gonna get this, and was one of those who was wondering if the company had died off, but once I saw reviews for it I decided to go with Fans Hobby's Energon Prime instead as I knew that would actually be like *durable* and such.

Here's hoping FansHobby will release their version someday? I mean they have to complete their Unicron trilogy of Optimus Prime's and Megatron's!

cybertron was my childhood and i never had this figure as a kid. i picked up the regular leader class from 04 and even the hybrid mini figure, this should have been an easy pick up. but when i saw the images it looked identical to the original. lack of anything novel is why i didn’t fire on this. it just feels a skinnier prime, coupled with the issues you have im glad i didn’t pick this up
