Always appreciate full real time tutorials. And Hey, could you please, provide the reference photo you used?. I find tutorials with reference photo very helpful because you don't just watch someone paint and try to replicate them, you also learn why they do what they do and you start to pick up ways to interpret the references and how to translate them into the painting. Which you can't do if there is no reference even though there's a lot of good tips already.

I didn’t realise just the depth that can be achieved by layers and glazing, and adding details in a seemingly random way. The effect of the whole is breath taking. Having so many excellent tips throughout your process makes me believe I could achieve a believable animal too, especially the fur details.

Seriously, it's like I'm watching a miracle, so magically special. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Even if I don't paint, it's awesome to see the process. My brain is perceiving two things at once; seeing a real tiger looking at me and reminding myself that I saw each stroke being made and it is a painting! Would love to ask a few questions, if you don't mind? Did you paint as a child? Do you still have your first painting? Can we see it or a tiger painting 10 years ago so we can see your progression, or were you always this good? Thanks!

Fantastic work as usual Daniel, thank you so much for sharing your process. I found your emphasis on adding randomness to the paint strokes to be a great reminder not to lose focus on achieving a natural looking line. Especially while getting bogged down with the repetitive, almost mechanical, process of laying so down many strokes! Being relatively new to acrylics I was also amazed at the effectiveness of placing the initial fur strokes in white and then colour glazing/washing them! WOW… so darn effective! Far too many people out there still suggest that acrylics are no good for glazing. Thank you once again.

The tip I appreciated the most pertained to the eye itself - the note to add slightly lighter-colored, wispy marks radiating out from the pupil, then slightly darker-colored marks radiating out from the lighter layer, surrounded by the lightest-colored lines radiating out into the bottom of the eye. Most of the color changes are quite subtle but the contrast and depth really pull the viewer straight to the pupil, even that part of the eye is in shadow! I used to really struggle with big cat eyes in the past, so this sincerely helps. I absolutely love this piece, thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! ❤

I don’t think it’s something you mentioned in the video (even though there were so many good tips) but I didn’t realise how much paint is actually on your brush when you’re painting. When I paint I usually have very watered down paint and less paint on the brush and it’s always a problem with layering because I will paint something that looks light and then it will disappear after it drys and it ruins the effect of depth. Can’t tell you how much your guys videos have improved my own work, thank you so much!

Beautiful work! The tip I found most helpful is the focus on shadow work (both glazing and detailing) to create layers and depth to the fur, and that light detailing can be less prominent in comparison but still be effective.

I find it so clever how you create the realism in the eye by putting a wash or glaze of watered down acrylic over the fine lines in the iris to maintain the colour of the iris, but not lose those details. I’ve never thought to try that and have always had that hurdle of struggling to keep the overall iris colour correct while trying to create those detailed contrasting lines. Truly incredible work! Thank you so much for the video, incredibly insightful and look forward to watching more

My favorite tip was putting shadow at the top of the eye and light at the bottom of the eye. You mentioned you do this despite what the lighting looks like in the reference photo. It makes the eye come to life and more realistic. I think the eyes are one of the most important features and it’s what grabs peoples attention. I’ll be trying this in my next painting
